Its not just the bending down part but the repetitiveness of the ass kissing that goes on. You kiss your ARMs ass, RRM, RVP, GM and a whole slew of others in your MT and MA days. Regardless of whether or not they are male or female (I would pretend the males asses were my own to make it easier and used jelly or syrup!) kissing ass was never my style. I was a boat rocker and I think that actually appeased to some people but not enough to get me to ARM status. I was the one who always had an "excuse" when things were rocky. I had my bad months (mostly right before I left) and I never "made up" excuses I had plenty of them in front of me.

I resent ass kissing and yes-men. But it is easier to get promoted by a manager who wants a yes-man on his/her crew. I see it as a weakness of that particular manager. I prefer someone who digs in and gets the work done regardless of their personality, as long as they're respectful to me and listen to constructive criticism, I prefer producers to ass-kissers any day. Thankfully, so does my manager.

Unfortunately, at ERAC 95% of managers want ass kissing yes-men. That's why nothing changes.

In rental, to a point I saw that. but I've never been an ass kisser. My ARM tried to talk me out of leaving rental, so did my BM and both bad-mouthed where I was going in an effort to keep me in rental. They weren't concerned about retention because I was transferring so they wouldn't take a hit. They just saw leadership.

I think leadership and making the right choices trumps ass-kissing any day. But if you've got an ass for a boss who respects the good ole boys who golf with him every Saturday, you have no chance. You have to walk the fine line of respect and aligning yourself to your boss' values. If he/she tells you to work on something, you need to focus on that until it's fixed. (as long as whatever it is aligns with your value system and is ethical)... That's not ass-kissing, it's common sense. Aligning yourself with your boss' priorities is a surefire way to get promoted. No one ever gets promoted by bad-mouthing their boss, making him/her look bad and generally being an ass just to be an ass.

Just because I'm not using something doesn't mean I want to lose it. That includes flexibility and intellect. Operating on autopilot will only get me so far... I want to enjoy the luxurious life that a single-digit of my pittance compounds to be in 25 years. With the help of non-existent social security benefits I paid in to and no funding for Medi-cal, I think I'll be in great shape.

Its amazing how people fear getting older (not you bleed). I do not plan on getting older than 45 because I do not work out (the shell is not the person), I eat whatever I want (I like to be happy) and I could care less what the "cool people" think of of me, my physique or my sense of style. If I die before 45 WHATEVER!! I am an individual who is hammered right now and just ranting on threads that have nothing to do with with what I am saying. GOODNIGHT all and peace be with you all and remember "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the number of moments that take our breath away." Be good to each other and to yourselves. I am hammered and I am ghost!!

Do not work for this company. My bit of advice to you. I worked for this company for 3 years and got out. I only stuck it out long enough to build my resume up for future jobs. You will work a minimum of 60 hrs. Lunch breaks don't exist maybe if your lucky you'll get one. The customers are the lowest life forms on this planet. They want something for nothing. You will be constantly on your feet driving people around and cleaning cars. The manager trainee title really mean "GLORIFIED CAR PREP". I had an assistant manager who worked for me and he was 50. He went into car sales becuase he could not handle the hours, and the pay really sucks. Really consider this position before accepting. If you were younger I would tell you to work for them do your time and look for another job. That's what i did I made manager in a year and a half. I kept documentation of all my achievements and got out. I now have a normal job working 40 hrs paid holidays and making more money with a straight salary and i get paid everyweek. Erac will give it's managers a low base salary and tell you how much money you will make with commission. I made excellent money only because i sold my soul to do it. But do not work for this company.

I'm the first to admit I'm not looking forward to aging. Not for vanity, for practicality. I do not want to die anytime soon and do not want to end up dependant on anyone else for survival. I'm hoping I die before someone has to change my diapers. I'm not scared of turing 50, it's 80 I'm scared of. Hope you're not nursing one hell of a hangover today.

I was pretty hungover (as per my other thread about not buying a car) but managed to get up at 9 after going to sleep around 2:30 or 3 (cannot remember). But I appreciate the well wishes. I could not imagine anyone considering going to ERAC a good career move unless they were an Owl vomit collector or a volcanic ash remover (from the show Dirty Jobs). Time to go, Desperate Housewives is on!!
