| The great majority of the postings I've seen on this board seem to be from people in their early twenties who are just starting out. I'm over 50 and changing careers and was thinking of trying ERAC. Can anyone comment on the opportunities at ERAC for someone over 50? |

| Seriously????????????????????? OK just for a second lets pretend ERAC would even hire you! You will be handed a salary of 25 thousand dolars a year and worked like a dog for 60 hours a week with no benefites...you will basically become a glorified underpaid taxi driver....After 2 years you will make it to manager because eveyone above you left or was fired. You will then be making between 30 and 50 a year...at this point you think your the top dog and work even longer hours then you will have a heart attack and wonder what the fuck you were thinking! |

Since all your coworkers would be fresh college graduates, are you sure you'd be willing to put with all that? Also, from what I've heard, everyone at Enterprise starts at the bottom. You probably won't receive any credit for any previous work or life experience I'll bet it could be fairly humiliating and frustrating for you. Can't you find something else where your life experience and maturity will be an asset, rather than a threat? __________________ "Don't worry about what anybody else is going to do. | I've rented plenty of cars from Enterprise over the years and the people working there always seemed to be busy and having fun, although most seemed to be fairly young. There were some employees that were of my age group, though. Anyway, I thought I'd give it shot - not as a management trainee but maybe as a rental agent or driver. One thing, though - you're right about my bullshit detector - I'll know quickly if they're handing me a line or not. Just for grins, I think I'll complete the on-line app and see what happens - you never know! |

Trust us, it is NOT a good place to work. Maybe being a driver is ok, it just doesn't pay well. Lots of retirees do it. They mostly bitch, smoke, drink coffee, and pee. Otherwise, you'll be a "Management Trainee" and be bossed around by a hot shot 21 yr old who thinks he's God b/c he can sell waiver. Do you want that? |

| We had a frequent renter who lost his job in a layoff who was probably in his late 40's or early 50's. Shortly after he was laid off he came in and got an application. He was a really great guy who just got caught up in middle mgmt. in a large company who was in the decline so he was one of the first ones let go. When he put his application in I asked him why he wanted to work at ERAC and he said that any job right now is better than being on welfare or not having any money at all. I have to say I agree with that statement. If you are in a situation of having to make ends meet for your family to have food then ERAC is a job.. Of course our ERAC upper mgmt. (all under 40) probably saw this guy as a threat, and that he wouldn't last long (as admin said- a few years in the working world and you BS detector is pretty good) because he would see that everything was a crock of shit, and that he wouldn't be able to work 60 hours a week because his family. They didn't even give him the courtesy to call him back and let him know they weren't going to hire him. He just showed up one day and asked about it and the city manager just told him they decided to hold off on hiring anyone. I felt really really really bad for him because he was so willing to do anything to make ends meet. So willing to do so that he would work at ERAC. |

| If you are into carpooling with other "over 50's... like getting talked down to by a bunch of pretentious 20 yr olds... and like NOT being invited to company parties...you could become a driver!! (All you can eat donuts!!) |
