You're always a target for upper mgmt especially when your making over 60k so don't be suprised when you end up taking that smug attitude of yours right to the unemployment line. Everyone is replaceable-and if you trust the people around you, your dumber than you sound.
I second this post, many of us posting have been where you are today and we are shedding some light on the BS cloud above your head. It may seem like roses now, but wait till they promote you to a branch that has escalating reserves, shit ass employees that they won't fire because there is no one else to replace. When your commission checks drop $2000 a month all they will do is pat themselves on the back for lowering your pay plan. 90% of all RRM or RVP's are in their positions based solely on timing with the company. They started before a big boom in growth occurred. Well my friend, unless you are in the middle of nowhere, ERAC has done a great job of saturating most marketplaces. Good luck trying to get to ARM. And if you do, don't be surprised to take a pay cut on your well deserved promotion.

Nobody works 60-70 hours a week? Buddy I worked at a 300+ car branch in the middle of every major car dealership open 7-7 Mon-Sat and regularly clocked 65-70 hours.

Get real. The average for ERAC in U1 is:

In at 7.30, work through lunch, leave at 7.30 or later. (much of the time is spent getting stuck in trafiic for London branches, or having to travel 30 miles to do a one day delivery for home counties branches).

Add on a Saturday from 8.30 - 1.30. That makes 65 hours. Typically branches furtehr away from London that cover areas that are nearer to Holland or France than London, will work well past 10pm during the week at least twice.

Even at a conservative estimate you will work 65 hours per week, and don't even bother saying otherwise because every staff member in the company will know you are lying.

I was making some serious money, on pace to make $90,000 as a BM. Until my group felt that I was making too much. They cut my commission percentage, split my office, gave some of my accounts to other existing offices, and did not even give me a bandage to stop the bleeding from the raping they just gave me. I did not give up. I continued to work hard, grow my fleet, and have strong numbers in all areas, maybe it was the "brainwashing" I don't know. Every time I succeeded, I watched as more accounts I had worked hard to land were given away to struggling branches. When I finally had enough and questioned my ARM and GRM about this, they quickly wrote me up for challenging authority and was told to "deal with it." I went to ERAC because of opportunity, promotions based on performance. Performance at ERAC is unappreciated and taken advantage of. I watched the elite get over worked, under compensated, and eventually left while the average employee was getting promoted not for performance but for being a "yes" man. I read about how other employees were teminated before becoming vested. Two weeks before I was vested The Big Green Monster struck me, not for performance since I was a top performer and so was my branch, I was terminated for another reason. A 30 day employee overheard two other employees telling jokes out back of the garage and suddenly became offended. I was not at the branch at the time because I was out marketing. Upon my return I was met by a member of HR and my ARM asking how I could allow this behaivior from one of my employees, even though I still had no idea what happened. To make a long story short this was my last day at ERAC because they were worried about a potential law suit from a new employee and they solved it like they always do. Lets fire someone and make an example out of them to the rest of the group. Lets continue to manage the employees by fear not logic or reason. As I left that day I never felt better. I was not angry with the employees that told the jokes, who by the way kept their jobs. I was finally set free from the lifestyle that is ERAC. I was able to see what else was out there once the green colored glasses were off. I now have a real career with a company that appreciates my hard work and performance and I am on pace to exceed $200,000 in my first year plus I get to see the light of day and spend time with my family. If you decide to work for ERAC take it for what it is worth, do not give in to the "brainwashing", and remember that no matter how good you are, your employment is never secure.

P.S. The grass is greener on the outside.
What great post. Pretty much sums up Enteprise. Just as well Enterprise's employees are the most important thing they own. And that they are so well looked after.

What a bunch of W@nkers

The grass is greener.

ERAC upper management can only manage by threats and disciplinaries. The company has it drummed into you that they are great and you are great, but if you leave you are only worthy of flipping burgers. Bit of a double standard there. The trouble is everyone believes it despite it being patently untrue.

I find it funny how someone defending ERAC can boast that their employees never worked more than 52-55 hours/week!!

For the pay wages I have seen posted on this board- with those hours?? Amazing!! They are barely breaking 10 an hour when considering all hours over 40 are OT and pay time and a half!!

I have never worked for ERAC- it was a day before my final interview when I discovered this site and told them I was no longer interested.

I am a Portfolio Analyst for GE Capital, making much more than an MT- working 40 hours/week- and also get time and a half if I CHOOSE to do OT- noone makes me.

Thanks again to this site for saving me from the Green. I have a wife and kid and would not be able to afford basic living on those wages- and my daughter probably wouldn't recognize me if I was working those kinds of hours!!

I left ERAC after working there for a little over a year and in looking back it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. If I were considering taking a job at ERAC, I would definitely read through this website b/c 99% of what is said is absolutely true. The hours are ridiculous and only get worse and considering the amount of hours you work you are extremely underpaid. 30-34K isn't really a bad starting salary out of college, but that is for a regular 40 hour per week job.

Also, be aware that the way Enterprise runs all its companies makes it impossible to avoid pissing off customers. The obsession with occupancy, CDW, and selling up makes it hard to both make money and satisfy customers. I also didn't like the fact that I had to lie to people EVERY single day I worked there.

Overall, I wouldn't recommend working at Enterprise unless you desperately need a job to make ends meet or if you want to use Enterprise as a means to gain experience for another field of work such as:

1. Taxi Driver
2. Car Wash Attendant
3. Butler/Maid
4. Vacuum salesperson (basically any sales position selling an overpriced product nobody wants)
5. Collections Agent
6. Car Thief
7. Doormat

Good Luck

OT is only time and a half IF the Manager or Area Manager don't change timesheets.
