Good bye.
That's funny. "So much opportunity". To get to the BM and in some cases the ARM level - yes, there is. You'll get there. You don't even have to be good at what you do - just stick it out, enough people will quit and you'll get there. Wanna go any higher? Good luck with that.

But no worries, I'm sure you'll make it to the RVP or VP level and you'll get that 6 figure paycheck within 6 years. And hey, if you don't at least you'll have that "virtual MBA" on your resume.

"All you care about is your own bottom line."

Well, yeah, isn't that the point? I sure as hell didn't go to college and work hard at my job so that I can rest assured that my area manager's commission check is going to be high this month. You'd better care about your own bottom line, because no one else is worrying about it for you (especially not the ERAC higher-ups). It still baffles me how people use their bosses' salaries to justify the mere pittance that they get themselves for working minimum 50-hour weeks at a demeaning job. But hey, whatever makes you sleep easier at night.

Wow, sounds like you had some dick managers. I was taken out to eat by my recruiter, then by my manager, and finally by my area manager. All on 3 separate occasions for that week. Now that I think about it...they were really good people compared to other Enterprise managers. 32AA is a good region.

The other difference between ERAC and other companies is that other companies will make the effort to understand why you are looking for another position, and if they value you as an employee, will try their best to keep you. That usually means matching another salary offer, increased responsibility within your current position, etc. Enterprise doesn't use that philosophy because when it comes down to it, all they can offer is "opportunity". If you get an offer from another company and go to Enterprise and say, "X company is offering me $45,000/year, 2 weeks paid vacation and a 40 hour work week, what can you do for me to make me stay?", all you'll get in response is "if you stay and if you sell and if the right people quit at the right time, you might be able to make $40K. But remember if you just stick it out, 6 figures will come within 6 years!" They don't try to match offers because they can't. No matter how hard they sell you, a half assed opportunity to make 6 figures will never stand up to the reality of an actual, liveable salary, normal hours and a respectable career.
I just wish I had stayed in Enterprise long enough (2 more months) to have been offered my current job (62K salary working only 35-40 hours a week with vacation days and many other benefits such as coming to work whenever I want). I would've sent in my 2 weeks notice and presented what I had been offered to them and see how they would respond. Ah, I can only fantasize about telling my branch managers that I could immediately make as much or more than them working only half the hours plus many more benefits. How would they respond? Probably how my BM did by, "Your opportunities here at Enterprise have no limits! You could be a millionaire becoming a VP one day! Just gut it out and make 30k working 60 hours a week for now!"
