Another thing that would get me steamed is once you became a BM or an AM it was your fault when someone quit. ARM would ask me what is the reason, less hours/more money. That wouldn't be good enough for them, they would do everything to try to save them and even a few times the Reginal Rental Manager called their parents in hope to have them persuade their kids to stay. How crazy is that!!! If someone quits McD's they tell them have a nice life and that is that. They don't feed you lies about promotions and making more money...

Iv'e seen more than one person get promoted after handing in their notice.

BM: Mr. Smith it is really important for Johnny's career that he stay at Enterprise.

Mr. Smith: I appreciate your umm...gusto for my son's career however you are a "professional" seeing as you wear a white shirt and a tie to work, so shouldn't you be having this conversation with him?

BM: He doesn't share my opinion about his career.

Mr. Smith: Irnoic that YOU have an opinion about HIS career. You didn't seem to care too much about his career when it was 16 degrees outside and you had him washing cars with ice. You didn't care too much about his career when you force him to bust his hump for 12 hours a day only to guilt him into going to the "optional happy hour".

What did you expect? My son went to college for __________ (insert any major but Car Rental Management here). Would you spend a $150,000 k on something and NOT use it?

Since when does a cult go to mommy and daddy when a member wants to leave. Aren't you people supposed to make them sever all ties? I thought that is what the 7 day work week with 12 hour days and quarterly meetings did! And I for one....

Yeah, they take serious offense when someone turns in his/her notice. Back in the summer of 2004, our 2-faced Area Manager in Toledo decided to send "threatening" e-mails to 5 select employees, myself being one of them. There were a few of us who had been assistants for a long time and this must have been her way of trying to intimidate us. These MS's contained phrases such as "sometimes inconsistent performance can be an indicator that someone is in a career that is not best matched for their goals/abilities," and "what have you observed about employees who are successful at Enterprise?" A month later, I was fortunate to find a far better opportunity with a real company. As soon as I turned my notice into BM (who was supportive of my decision and I did respect him too), my Area Manager came to my office the next day, begging and pleading for me to stay and that she was going to have me run one of the new offices in town. I simply said I was going to leave anyway and had no interest in any further endeavors with Enterprise. And she still let me finish my 2 weeks.

Surprisingly, for as much as I disliked ERAC, I never had a problem with any of the Branch Managers I worked for. It was the area manager who was a 2-faced bitch and then just the job in general.

And then there was the wonderful exit interview with HR....felt so good to go into her office wearing shorts and a t-shirt. This was about 4 days after my last day so I let my facial hair grow (strictly prohibited with ERAC).

Hahaha....I quit with no job or anything lined up but extremely burnt out and they were encouraging my leaving (I couldn't sell to save my life). At the end of my 2 weeks they were like "Do you need some extras time?" "You can work longer if you'd like!" I said "I don't think so" and ran for the door!

I also know of several employees who were called into the Admin office to speak with the ARM or GRM because the HR department had seen those people's resumes posted on job sites such as monster or careerbuilder.

These MTs were basically forced to remove their resumes from these search engines, and were told that they would be watched closely.

Now what kind of job resorts to gestapo tactics to force their employees to stay? Sounds more like communism to me.
