Jack Taylor even talks about this in his book Exceeding Expectations (yes, I read it) that folks who do well at ERAC aren't neccessarily the smartest, but the most enthusiastic. He mentions people that were in sororities and fraternities in college tend to do well (used to being brainwashed.)

Please don't feel bad. It sucks when a company doesn't want you, even if you don't want them. Take it as a compliment that they didn't want to hire someone too smart.
I hear ya about the stupid that work for ERAC. I graduated from college, top percentage of my class. I decided to work for ERAC for business experience and that was all. I took what I learned and landed a great job as a sales rep and now I'm a corporate controller. Some of the stupid that was mentioned on here made me laugh. We had a guy start, who after four months working at Enterprise, he asked what ERAC stood for. Not RALPH, not ECARS....friggin ERAC. The kind of person who wouldn't know how to answer the question, "what color is an orange?" So, the brightest bulbs usually don't work for this company.

I applied and interviewed three (yes, three ) times before being hired.

First time rejected because I wanted to go to grad school...
second time rejected because I didn't have goals...
third time enthusiastically hired to drive 120 miles a day to work 11 hours in the middle of the desert in summertime.

wow.

Damn, I quoted the wrong post. This is for the person who was just rejected by erac.

Most recruiters for any industry know within 25-30 minutes whether you are right for a position with their company. If the initial interview goes longer than that they are trying to convince themselves that you might work. It sounds like this might have been your situation.

The best thing to do is to not to take it too personally - easier said than done when you've just gotten that letter. However, you have to remember that you would have turned them down, so you actually agreed that it wasn't the job for you too. Both you and the HR rep came to the same conclusion.
Good luck finding a position.

Sorry to rain on your parade but I had a 3.75 GPA out of college and got hired at ERAC. If you all want to convince yourselves that only stupid people get the job simply because it makes you feel better...I guess go for it, but you're wrong. They look for people who have sales and people skills. Also, I was not a cheerleader or in a brainwashing institution in college and I got the job. Stop insulting people just because you are bitter-frankly, it is unflattering and makes you look even more pathetic. ERAC has one of the best training programs you can ask for and every friend I have who has worked there and gone through their training program have found that when they've gone elsewhere that having worked at ERAC is something other employers are impressed to see on a resume. So I am sorry you guys didn't get the job but don't name call or make absurd statements. And no, not everyone get the job...about 1 out of every 10 who get interviewed get the job because it cost a lot to train and they don't want to lose money.

F--- that job, you're better off anyway. But I learned this from a former co worker who interviewed many people. Say this at the end of your interview after asking a few questions about the job. Sounds like you may not have been aggressive enough, remember it is a sales job.

"Ok, before I came in here you didn't know me at all, now that we've spent this time together, do you have any reservations about my ability to do this job? (Look them right in the eye, and don't flinch).

No I don't

"Great I want you to hire me, what's the next step?" (Done deal at this point, if you want the job it's yours)

If they say Yes, I wish you had more experience in this or that, it gives you the chance to go back and resell yourself. Be ready for any potential weaknesses you may have and have answers ready for them.

Also feel free to lie through your teeth about things they can't verify. They don't know if you smoked pot all through college or headed up the local fund raising drive for Jerry's kids, get creative!

The funny thing is most employee's that I know that hate ERAC are lazy as shit. So of course they don't like it. The even more funny thing is these people always talk about going into pharm-sales. If you cannot hack it at ERAC you will never survive as a rep. If you can't laugh @ people when they act a little crazy then this job is not for you. If you take every situation/phone call to heart then you will think this job is hard.
