Choice time is the biggest joke there is. It's basically a vacation day that you are supposed to be able to use anytime but it never works out that way. If you use your choice days, you are not a team player and not promotable. I've had my Branch Manager and Area Manager straight tell me I can't use my choice days. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of a choice day?

Can I use it on a Monday or Friday? NO!

Can I use it after a holiday? NO!

Can I use it in the summer? NO!

Can I use it during the holiday season? NO!

Can I use it on a day that ends in y? NO!

Since you haven't started at ERAC yet, GET OUT WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!!!!!!!

Choice time is your non-vacation days (i.e. sick, personal). The good thing about it (in theory) is you can take any of these days off on less than a moment's notice. The bad thing (aside from the pure guilt of knowing you'll leave the only other person at your branch alone for the whole day), you only earn one a month for the first two years.

Let's see, you are going to start at ERAC in a couple of months and you're hung up on "choice time" ? Choice time if you could call it that only exists in writing on those papers. Your first 364 choices won't work for ERAC.

If ERAC is giving you a couple of months before actually starting, I would do everything in my power to interview with as many organizations as possible and steer clear of these bastards. Once you start with ERAC you are no longer your own person-very long hours, low pay about $9 dollars per hour, the low self-esteem from working retail and a rental weasel at that.

Say good-bye to your friends and family or significant other because you will be so dead tired you won't have anything left over after work. Your friends will move on and you will loose contact with more and more of your college friends. Soon you will get "new friends" courtesy of ERAC. You will begin to speak the new language of rentalize: "get dub on that?". If you are lucky you will see some female co-workers gain 40 pounds in a year (okay that was funny). You will see ERAC highlight the failures of those who could not hack it -a lot like AMWAY here, folks.

You can also count on a very shitty work enviornment. It starts with the non-existent support from upper mgmt when you are out of cars but have to take EVERY reservation and told the lie "some cars are on the way". Employee back-stabbing is a mandatory office tool, lying to customers is a corporate mantra, angry customers are the norm, and ruining nice clothes cleaning cars used as dumpsters, bordellos and crack dealer's offices is a daily occurance. This is just the shit that I know about in my office.

You can bet on a crappy attitude when you call your local HR rep about certain coverages and co-pay info. For example, the person who posts as Blame crystalizes this. She claims to be in HR and belittles anyone who dares to ask her questions. Her simple answer is "read your pamphlet" for every question. She also claims to have worked up from the trenches to HR making 6 figures. She also claims " ...just to help out, she wrote 237 tickets one month because of the grid iron person she is." This is pretty typical of the clone type mentality at ERAC.

Your "perks" will consist of mandatory after hours at a local bar to get face time on top of a 60 hour work week. Another perk is getting stuck at the United Way seminar-if you don't donate your name is actually circulated on the shit list. Let's not forget the Christmas party where everyone gets stinking drunk, gets lousy ERAC gifts and a few will get DWI's on their way home and get fired.

It doesn't get any better when you make it to Branch Management, either. Your told you will make a cut from the branch but if your put in an over-saturated or mature market your pay will actually go down. Then you have to actually pal up with the ARM and RM and tell them how good it is to be at ERAC. Your future at ERAC is not determined by seniority, ESQI, Waiver, ect. One is promoted based on a vague, subjective criterea that changes when ever the good ol' boy network deems fit.

Take it from me and other posters here. Shit, just go in an office and talk to an employee outside the office-they tell you it sucks. Talk to former employees they'll tell you: "ERAC JUST SUCKS"

I work there and it totally SUX. Over and out.

You Have To View Choice Time Like Involuntary Flex Time. You Work An Extra 18 Hours A Week Times 51 Weeks (as You Get 1 Week Vacation Your First Year) That Equals 918 Hours. Now Divide 918 Hours By A Normal Work Week Of 40 Hours And You Get 23 Weeks Of Extra Time Served. The Promblem Is Erac Gives You 7 Ct Days Your First Year. This Still Leaves You With A 22 Week Deficit For You First Year. If You Invested Your Money Like You Invest Your Time At Erac You Will Be Broke Fast.... Number Never Lie.

seriously - find another job. start interviewing right away. and when you negotiate salary, at least you can use the enterprise offer as a bottom floor.

The smartest thing a soon to be enterprise employee can do is keep interviewing with other companies, and when you begun work, still interview.

Don't stop interviewing until you get another job.

To put it to you this way, I was hired along with 25 or so other people in my region. You know how many are there after 3 years? At last count, 2. Although I think the number might now be 1.

So, at least 92% out of my hiring "class" left enterprise within 3 years, and most of them left within 18 months.

if the job was so great, and the opportunity so plentiful, you should ask why 92 or more percent of enterprise employees stay less than 3 years.

Choice Time is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to problems you will encounter during your time at ERAC. You're best to not even waste any of your talent with that company. Keep looking at other opportunities and even if you have to bus tables for a while, you will still make more money doing that than working for ERAC.
