Default This is why I quit Enterprise!

Hi,

I would like to help out the newbies who are thinking of going the ERAC route. I am a University graduate who did a decent [b]degree and I am not talking about the one in guitar studies or some shit like that.

Anyway, the point being, I had recently graduated but had over 5+ years of work experience as I have been working p/t since I was 16. I was invited for a interview, did the interview, got through the interviews and just before the training, just for curiosity sake, I wanted to check out the reputation of the "Management Trainee" program, as ERAC is top 50 companies (so called) to work for in Canada.

I stumbled on this website (as it ranks better than ERAC's own site!!) and read through the experiences and inquired a little but I never believed all of it.
During my training, I inquired about some of the stuff (as in how is 30K calculated etc etc, what happens if there is a stat holiday? They used to get puzzled because it would come out to 28K even with their calculations!)

Anyway, I did tell them about this site and was told that every company has one and its the weak minds that are on it and the site is full of lies!

Now I can attest to the fact that 99% of the experiences that I had read before working at ERAC are true. You will be asked by customers if you are still in school, you will be cleaning out dog shit from the cars and this isn't management experience. You are just glorified driver and a car prep. Our branch was always understaffed (as it is the best way to reduce employee expenses and increase BM's commision check!).

The sad part was that within few weeks, I had realized that even the position of Branch Manager isn't that lucrative. Working 70hrs a week to make decent commission to get a little over 45K isn't good money. When I was working at ERAC, I always used to ask them about their pays and even Area Manager's pay and unlike what I was told in training, it was pathetically low.

Let's not talk about the risks that you take if you are in a Manager's position and I am not talking about controllable risks, we are talking about something that is out of the hand of the manager. For instance, an MT smashes a car, looses his/her freebie, but manager's pay just got affected by that.

How in the world can you comfortably pay rent, mortgage when you know that your pay can vary from $1900 a month to $3500 while working overtime like a bitch.

My point to the new grads, DON'T. Even the recruiters I talked to after I quit the job told me that they know ERAC is not about management and people are just at the counters writing tickets. Even the rental experience isn't thought of as a great thing in real business.

Everything on this site is real. Well, 99% of it except the immature bastards that keep on ruining the threads. Your pay will be 800ish after working 100 hours. That's 50 a week after lunches being taken off (Which btw, you get taken off but you still work through them)

Can you imagine working overtime all your life? I had seen Area managers working their asses off as well. That is why the retirement age is 45 (for those few that stick to this, because everyone gets burnt out by then!)

If you value your family, personal life and your degree, then don't waste your time with this. You can always get a $10.71 job anywhere. Actually, at retail mall level, you get commission on top, so you can make $16/hr easily if you can sell.

And if you have a degree, you are already above the crowd at ERAC. At my group, C2, I barely met anyone with a degree. 99% of them had done 1-2 yr diploma and this would be the best thing for them with zero experience.

Unfortuantely, If you have spent time working on your degree and value it. Don't waste your time. Thanks god finally woke up and quit after 7 months. BTW, I was leading my branch in sales as well, but felt unchallenged because I knew I could do more than just being a ticket counter monkey.

Well put. I quit for all the same reasons. One night I drove bye my old branch, it was about 8pm, on my way out to dinner I saw the BM and AM still in the office. I just smiled right after that and thought, im glad I got out when I did.

Working overtime is part of almost any job, especially if you are going to be successfull. But ERAC overtime is unbelievable. It's every day and it gets worse the higher you go up in the company.

I quite Enterprise the first week of March 2005; after only working seven months.

It took me almost a year to get over working there.

Today I work for a Fortune 500 company who is paying me $48,000 a year will real benefits. They are also paying for my classes so that I can earn an MBA. They are offering me a real future with real money now and more money than Enterprise pays most.

I will say this, about working at Enterprise, the stress at my job today does not compare.

Well, it sounds like you've found your 6 figure job right out of college. Way to go. Too bad for enterprise.

You are all so right. The 3homes that I own must be fake. I didn't know that 52hours/week was all that bad. I manage $20million in assets, no that's not real either. As for the guy who says he quit and he was tops in damage waiver sales. Nice Try, those who do well move up, they don't quit. Good luck at walgreens. Don't forget to stack all those shelves

I agree. Let these dumb fucks keep leaving. Grass is always GREENER, huh? You guys are weak. So you have a tough year or two, bit deal. The Big E is a time-spent job. How hard is it? Think of what you do. The higher you are the less you do. Stick it out and laugh at this site all the way to the bank.

You are the ones that ruin the site for everyone that has been taken through the cleaners. The only reason that you are typing this crap is because you can't get your bosses dick out of your mouth. Get a real job because ERAC sucks donkey dick. It is the worst company out there and Starbucks employees actually make more than us and they only work part time. Did you know that a Starbuck's manager makes over $40K a year. Makes you think about what you are doing witha ciollege degree and renting cars to people.

I made 100K last year and I worked about 35hours a week. All of my starbucks is paid for by ERAC along with all the gas I use. That puts me over $150K. Thanks for the nice joke.
