Well, er yes.. if you already know not to trust any recruiter then why this time? DO NOT TAKE THE JOB!! And since we all know that West Texas is not the world then let me tell you this: ERAC is not the job! |

Well, I never had a "third person" speaking to me about a job, i.e. a recruiter. I always applied to the companies direct. But since the recruiter gets money when you join the cult, er... the green machine, er... ERAC, of course, he will not tell you that out of a 55-60 h working week you will hardly get lunches, will wash more cars than you could ever imagine, will have to vacuum the office, will have to pick up customers in areas where you wouldn't normally stop at a red light when being in your own car but just drive straight on. Think twice (and I mean "think" as long as you still can!) because ERAC will not only take away your brain but your dignity as well. |

A 60 hour week is what the "normal" work week is like. In terms of comp: we had the opportunity to come in late (at 11 am) or leave early (at 3 pm) once a week but I don't think that is very common. If you really take the job be aware: You will work long hours!!! You will meet a lot of strange people, i.e. customers and you will clean a lot of cars! |

| erac is a horrible place to be. i got my time card changed. i had to wash cars in -10 weather. i had to deal with driving scary people around. i got threatened. promotion is just based on sales. even if you cheat. by cheating i mean putting in other employees numbers when you don't sell DW. i worked 12 hour days. my relationship suffered. when i didn't go to VP dinner, everybody thought i was rude, but i had surgery so i couldn't go. people acted shocked when i told them i went to college. there is a lot of sexism also. my branch manager would make rate women on a 'doable' scale. i couldn't leave work at work. i would dream about erac all the time. |

| Enterprise and Hertz are pretty close in comparison. 1) Some people have degress and some don't, having one won't help you after you start working there. 2) The hours are long, 50+ a week. 3) More than half of your transactions will involve some kind of dispute, argument, disagreement, or problem of some kind. 4) You will wash cars often, and in all weather. 5) The phone will ring alot and you will answer even while doing a rental/return or even juggle 2 phone lines at once. 6) The drinking and boorish behavior is not as prevelant at Hertz as it is at ERAC though. 7) There alot of snakes that work in car rental in general and if you don't have that ruthless side to you, the side that will fuck over anyone at anytime for any reason, stay away from car rental. |

| Is it just me or do the first few responses to this post (except the very first one confirming the state CT) sound like recruiters. Well actually I should say anyone that works at ERAC and likes it is a potential recruiter. To the person that posted this thread. The only good thing about ERAC is if you get somone hired they pay you 1,000. But they expect you to do that and work it in to your pay plan. And you have to feel bad about referring a friend to this crappy job. You will get $9-11 an hour depending on where you live. After taxes you are basically scarping to get by. This goes on for about 2 yrs then you finally get a somewhat decent check...the hours get worse though. Since you live in CT get used to washing cars in the freezing cold. And you know how it takes a few minutes to get your own car nice and warm, try jumping into a different car every 15 min and freezing your ass off. Do you like retail work, cause thats what this job is. Except longer hours, you have to take tests to move up, you deal with worse customers at ERAC than any other place cause they just lost their own car and you have to sell them shit that you dont get comission for. I hope you get a good deal at your dry cleaners, you will be bringing your work clothes there regularly. That will put you back about 60 bucks a month. I also hope you like waking up before the sun and getting home after it sets. And when you get home your dead tired and your friends are already out. By the way, do you have a gf or bf, tell them you wont going out as much. Were your parents/family proud of you for graduating College, good luck tell them you are going to be renting cars for a career. Do you like phones ringing non-stop with the most annoying sound ever. There is so much more to tell you but I have said enough and my lunch break is over. See at my new job i get the internet and a desk, you dont get any of that at ERAC. You get a shitty computer with a black screen and green text. I hope the 9-11 dollars/hr is worth it for you...it wasnt for me |
