I don't work for ERAC, never have.

But I did go to two interviews w/ them. And I live in CT. Let me tell you something though. This was 2 years ago, and the first interviewer (in expensive Fairfield County) told me working 50-55 hrs per week I would be making around 30K. I was all set to take the job (what did I know I was a new college grad?) until I found this site.

I now work for General Electric and before that at Wells Fargo, two years out of college I make about twice the Enterprise pay and even that isn't much considering CT is one of the most expensive places to live in the country.

My wife is a secretary, works 37.5 hours per week and make 30K. (more than an MT for the hours)

If you live in CT you know you can't get a decent house for less than 400K. Work at Enterprise you will be renting in a bad neighborhood for the next decade.

Do not believe the hype. I will tell you I have 4 years of experience, and I currently work for carsales in Arizona. I was promoted in 6 months to level II. I was an assistant manager for one month before going over to out car sales division. Truthfully, in the 7 months of rental experience I was taught to lie to customers. Now that I'm in car sales, I lie even more!

Enterprise was a great company to join in the 80's early 90's, now we stopped growing and we're actually downsizing everywhere. If you want try working at Quicken Loans or Rock Financial. Its very similiar to ERAC but far more advanced, and you'll be able to work anywhere after that.

You are working in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia or Newfoundland which has a much slower work pace than alot of Canada and most of the US. This is why your erac experience is a little more pleasant than most of the posters on here.
With that said, because of the smaller populations where you work, you will have much less overall opportunity then if you worked in Toronto or New York or SoCal or any other region with several million people.

That's true, I've said in other posts that I am in Halifax -- and you're right about limited opportunity in the group, to a point...you can always transfer :)

I definitely enjoy the slower pace, but even at our branch of 170 cars, it's fairly relaxed. Definitely not boring, just a nice pace.

I worked for Enterprise just short of three years. I would consider it again, but I think I was in group (Group 12, Colorado) that was a bit more ethical then some other that I have heard of. In fact, I have heard of some pretty bad stuff in other groups. That said, I enjoyed much of my first two years of ERAC. The events at the bars after work were fun, and were NOT required to attend. Those who wanted to go, great. Those who didn't no problem. The money was ok, and the hours were not too bad when you are young. I burned out on the company, and left to a new job, where now I do not have to deal with customers anymore. I think it is a great place to learn business skills, and the fact that I worked at ERAC helped me get my current promotion at my current company. All I can say is its worth a try, and if you don't likeit, there is always another job. I saw plenty of people at ERAC get another job while working ERAC (all that time in cars with potential new employeers. I think I have rambled enough for now.

Waht a lie. First nobody made it to branch manager in 6months. We are still growing and never downsizing. We have never laid off an employee in our 50 year history. What other 9billion/year compnay can say that. I am in my 20's and make more than 100K/year. People who are lazy and can't sell hate the company. Hardworking people who like to be challenged make a ton of $$$ and retire before most people get started. If you are talented I would give ERAC a try and decide for yourself.
