Some famous lines ERAC feeds you to make the job sound better, ad some more if you can to warn the potential new hires. They say: "You remember that guy/girl who was waiting for an interview with you. They didnt make it through." What really happend: The person that "didnt make it through" probably realized the job is crap or even found this site. ERAC will do anything to hire people. The only way they didnt make it through is if they had a few DUIs or didnt have a degree/managerial experience They say: "You will make a base pay of 34k (in So Cal)" Reality: You will start 10.55/hr and work 11hrs a day M-F and 4hrs every other Sat to get your pay up to about 30k. Then we assume you will get a few job refferals and a few car sales refferals. No job ever assumes I will get an employee hired and work that into my pay plan. Bullshit. They say: "Promotions happen all the time, we expect you to be making a lot of money in a few years!" Reality: A lot of people quit so jobs open up. In order to get promoted we dont care how hard you work, you still have to take 2 tests for your first 2 promotions. The higher you move up the farther away you will be located, dont get comfortable. You are also competeting against hundreds of other ERAC employees when you get to those desired high level positions. They say: "It is a sales and marketing position that offers training for managers and business owners" Reality: It is a sales job but the only thing you sell is protection for the car and the customer and also a chance to rent a nicer car. You dont get comssion until you are an AM which takes about 2 years average. Your marketing consits of Donut delivery to bodyshops and dealerships. And your manager training is like much like the MT program at wallmart They say: Sure you will rent some cars, pick up some people maybe even wash a car or 2. But everyone does it and its just a part of the job. Reality: That is your job, you rent cars all day, you pick up customers and you wash cars all day...or take cars to the car wash if your lucky. Maybe 2hrs a week you go marketing. But if you are at a busy branch you barely even do that. They say: The day goes by fast! Reality: Nothing that lasts 12 hrs/day every day goes by fast. If you work at a busy branch, which you eventually will, you never sit down. The phone is always going off and the lines get long at the beginning and end of the day. They say: "We care about our Employees" Reality: Don't mess with us. If we find out you interview with someone else or even post your resume online, you will hear from it. We care about you like a possesive/obsessive stalker cares. We do not want to let you out of our sights. And if you do leave one day but do a great job here at ERAC, we still say you suck, your not a team player and basically talk shit about you every day. They say: "Gosh our employee's are great, they like to hang out and have fun" Reality: Anyone you are around for so long every M-F and every other Sat..you get sick of them. Then you are pressured to go to the bar or a group dinner with them after work. They don't seem to understand you have your own friends and force you into thier world. If you dont go with the motions they are the worst people to be around. They also want the person who is renting the nice car, who usually gets protection and who takes the sell up and will knife your back just to rent that car to them. They say: "The Area manager you met makes 6 figures, heck even some branch managers make a paycheck in the 80's or 90's" Reality: These managers are still making less money on average (by the hour) than someone pulling 50-60k a year. How does this make sense, because those people making that money arnt working 55-60hrs a week. If you were making 60k a year and worked about 8hrs a day...lets just say you would be making a lot more than 100,000 a year at ERAC. Basically they people high up always...and I mean always preach about how great ERAC is. The thing is they are paid based a lot on how good their retention is. If you quit your Area Manager and BM suffer. A recruiter at ERAC gets paid by how many people they get interested in the job and take it. A recruiter outside of ERAC gets a fat check when they refer you and you get hired...they will probably focus your meeting on a position where you get to become a manager without mentioning ERAC. Employees at lower levels get brainwashed and will spit out the same shit that managers tell them to new hires. The only people who realize the job is crap are ex-employees, people with good jobs and the friends/gf/bf who miss thier friend cause they work all day. Does anyone have any more famouse lines?

I hope that is a quote, cause it sure as hell sounds like one. ERAC people love to think its only downhill if they get out of ERAC...thats not true. And if you quit your not lazy, it doesnt mean your lazy if you quit a job, it means tha job is not for you. Quitting because the pay is low, the hours are long and the conditions suck is not lazy, its logical. Why suffer and be un-happy at a place you spend the majority of your time at. I have seen many hardworking people get burned out by ERAC. It's not because of the hours, its because how much money they get out of every hour, which is equal pay to those serving you your food. |

As in "You're an idiot." Don't belittle a great post because of hurried grammar. __________________ "Book that deal!" "You said we're sold out!?!" "Don't question me kid!"

If any of Erac's products were worth the price, it wouldn't be hard to sell. I'd say that near 80% of the people that were sold dw/pai/slp (not the customers that want it all the time;that is not a "sale"), felt as if it was too much money, and that they were overwhwlmed by the tactics used by employees. Most people only carry car insurance because it is state law, not a choice. I really wouldn't describe Erac as a sales job, but more like a reatil job in a suit.

by you spelling retail like "reatil" means that you should fit right in at blockbuster as a retail sales person dressed with a blockbuster shirt and a name tag. erac sucks, but it actually teaches you to be a sales person, however it is pennies to a real sales job. by working at erac it teaches you how to handle objection,. sell a blind product, and become a better communicator.
