Default Pulling You In

We all know that ERAC has agressive recruiting. They make the job sound so much better than it is by manipulation. I think it should be a law that on the first interview they say the following. Just so the employee knows exactly what they get are getting into.

"You will be paid hourly, your strating pay (depending on state) will be $10.55hr. You can make more money if you get a car sale refferel or a job refferel. These are $200 per car sale and $1,000-2,000 for job refferal"

"After a few months usually 4-5 you take a test and get $11/hr."

"After a year you take another test, you don't get a raise but you get a check for $1,000 thats taxed."

"You will be expected to sell our Damage Waiver, PAI and SLP. You do not make comission on these sales. When you start to make comission at Asst. Manager."

"It takes about 1.5 to 2 yrs to be an Asst. Manager. You do not make comission on your own sales but on your employees combined for the branch. We do lower your hourly pay once you become Asst. Manager"

"The minnimum you will work is 50hrs a week, but usually it ranges from 54-60 hrs a week. The higher up you move in the company the longer the hours"

"Your main job is to rent cars, walk people out the door, walk them around the car to look for damage, check the gas, pitch our waiver, SLP and PAI. You will pick people up from thier house/office/bodyshop. You will wash cars, unless your branch uses a car wash, then you take the cars there to get washed."

"You never stay at the same branch for a year, especially if you want to be promoted. The higher up you go, the farther away you will be moved, there is a slight chance you can stay in your Area, but it is not common."

Now I think this is fair. ERAC has the right to say that it is a fun job, with great opportunities and so on. Any job will and can say that. But at the same time they should be up front with their pay plan and hours.

"You will begin to hate people, solely based on the type of car they drive, 'another pissed off BMW customer', then after quitting you will hate yourself for thinking that way"
