The only reason you should work for ERAC

To see how crappy it can get if you have a degree. If you work at ERAC you will cherish any other job you get after, and it will also teach you how to look for an employer who hides or misleads you on the pay plan, working conditions and opporunities.

If you go for an interview, pay close attention on how much they feed you personal stories of current employees "who love working there." You have to watch a video that is full of these testimonials that are there to assure you that this is a great place to work. This should be your first tip that if you need to be reassured this much, something is wrong.

I do not disagree with the business, renting cars is a great way to make money. I disagree with their hiring tactics, they need to be upfront and honest about hiring employees. They have every right to hire whoever they want, but to mislead people is not right.

They should say...

-You will work 10 hour days, and every other saturday for 4 hours.

-You will make about 10.5/hr to start, with overtime pay since you will work at least 2 hrs overtime every day

-We offer insentives for car sale refferals, it is $200 if the car sale is made

-If you reffer someone to be employed you will recieve 1k for the first time, 1.5k the second and 2k for the third.

-There is a chance to move up, there are several steps to take, but the higher up you move, hours increase depending on branch and the farther up you move, the more likely it is you will be transferred out of the region

-Your job is to #1 check customers into cars and offer them protection, #2 Answer phones, #3 Pick up Customers and be talkative #4 Keep cars clean and gassed, #5 study for tests to get promoted in your first few years and #6 be familiar with our computer system.

But since they are paid to hire people they say, They say "you will make atleast 30k a year and possibly 35k to start. You will move up fast, so get ready for greatness. Everyone loves the job and your co-workers are awesome. Make sure to say hi to Brian for me, he is your AM and he will be taking you out to lunch tomorrow with your BM Kelly. GO YOU!

Great post! What an honest look into the life of the big green. I was there almost a year and I have to say that one of the most dissapointing aspects of ERAC was its lousy pay. I was told I would be making 30-35k as well, coming from 42k a year (dumb move). I told the recruiter to lean toward the 35k and she told me I would probably do better than that based on my experience. What a joke!! Based on my experience, I was a glorified car prep who ruined his shoes and got his Brooks Brothers ties sucked up in the vacuum. What a lousy experience. I do have to agree with this post - - ERAC will make you appreciate ANY job.
