I have my second interview today.... I have been pushed by a "friend" to go for it. He is an ERAC employee... Does he have an interest in me getting a job at ERAC? He has been mentioned on my application and during discussions with ARS. Will he get a spiff if I get hired?
| |||
He'll get a grand if you're hired and then up to $500 more once you pass your skills test and grill. That's the way it was when I was there. He may be a little brainwashed in believing that Erac is the end all be all of careers because that is what they try to insert into their employees' brains. So, his advice on Erac may be tainted. Is he an actual friend, or just some random person referring you? If it's the latter, then they only care about getting that thousand bucks.
| |||
of course he wants you to get hired, he gets $1000 for it. plus he gets high remarks, and better chances for a promotion. With friends like that, who needs enemies.

One of the questions I had when I took my grill was a role play scenario. 'How would you refer a potential employee on applying to Erac outside of work?' The scenario was: I was at a restuarant and I had to sell my waiter on the benefits of Erac, give him a business card and make a case why he should apply at Erac. This was an actual question in my management qualification interview. Now, these questions vary from area to area and the reasoning behind the question was to determine my ability to sell myself and Erac...but c'mon. I can think of plenty of different scenarios that they could have hit me with that were directly related to the job. Looking back, I have to wonder what kind of company would have such a trivial and ridiculous question in an interview to advance your career. Answer: Erac of course.

Ach so?..... Ach so? I was wondering about that. I only meet him recently. He wasn't pushy at first,but once I got him going. Well, he must have remembered about that perk. I will see how he reacts once he finds out I bailed on the idea. Based upon the information I got from this site. I think there should be sites like this covering every company out there.Good or bad!

The grill is the interview/test you have to take before you can become a management assistant. Once you're an MA, then you can put in for assistant managers positions as they open up. It is also called the Management Qualification Interview (MQI). It consists of straight answer questions, role playing and spreadsheet analysis. For me it, was two area managers that administrated it. Some like to mess with the applicants and be a hard ass in the role plays, but mine wasn't that bad. The actual MQI itself is a good idea at Erac as it does give a good indication of whether or not you at least understand the material to move forward. In my group, the tough part was the spreadsheet analysis only because as an MT you don't really see it that often. The majority of the questions they asked pertained to the job itself, but the employee referral question seemed a little retarded. You also have to take a skills test at 3 months. That is a written test about basic stuff that you need to know. They are no different than studying for an exam in college..at least it was for me. Once you pass each one, you get a bonus. I'm not sure if they changed that since I left.

In my old region, for every employee referral that was hired, you receive 1000$ automatically on their first day on the job. Once they hit the 6 month mark, you get another 500$ and then once you grill another 500$. Later they changed it to 500$ at first and 500$ at grill. However the case, your friend will be getting something out of your hire. Some regions/groups have contests such as money, time off, Vegas/Bahamas trips for 2 for a hire. It varies everywhere, but there is always some reward.

My old region gave you $100 if your referral made it past the first interview so he may have already made money from you.

We got the standard $1000 bonus, and $500 if the person was hired in another group. That was it, unless there was a contest on. There was a huge push to get referrals...and the recruiters had a target of 50% of new hires coming from employee referrals.
