Default real deal

It is possible to get promoted quickly to assistant manager and branch manager depending on where your'e at, who your upper manager is, how well you sell, and whether or not you are viewed as 'the right stuff'. As for the 6 figures they preach, that is also possible...but far less likely. They are not growing as much as they let on to new applicants. Pretty much everytime a postion opens up, it's because someone either quit, was fired, or was moved/promoted to another position because someone either quit or was fired there.

Much of what is mentioned on this site is accurate. What's even funnier is that it pretty consistent across the board regardless of what group you're in. Sure it varies here and there, but you don't need a slide rule to realize that Erac is not nearly as awesome as they make it out to be. Most people on this board were in the position you find yourself now and most felt that they'd be promoted in no time as well.

Plus, "promotions" to assistant manager, which is generally the 1st major promotion, generally bring with it more responsibility, more work, more hours, and...
less pay. But Erac will spin it to the employee that it's a good thing. Looking at all my work experience outside of Erac, a promotion brings everything listed above, INCLUDING higher pay. But Erac like to do things differently....

The real deal is that they have you pegged from the moment you walk in. If you are not a certain type of person, you will not advance. Here's who they want in the MT program.

Male: You must be conventionally attractive, no more than 25-30 pounds overweight, ideally between 5'7 and 6'3 with short hair, a marketing degree and perfect teeth. No facial hair, visible tattoos or piercings. Exceptions will be made for former athletes, fraternity members and those with a smarmy charisma. You may be married but for no more than a year, and preferably with no kids. You must love sports, dislike fine arts or culture, not have any hobbies besides playing pickup games with your buddies, and have a fondness for beer. Ability to drive while hammered a plus.

Female: Again, conventionally attractive. Because women are somewhat protected for discrimination, weight is often not a factor when hiring for MT's, but in order to advance past Level II, you must be no more than a size 10-12. Conservative but trendy attire, a desire to read Cosmopolitan and Vogue, and no real goals. Sorority girls and friends of female employees are welcome. Women should ideally be single, meet a guy at ERAC, get married and quit so as to avoid "conflict of interest" and "fraternization" issues. Again, a fondness for partying should be noted- for females it should be Marlboro Lights and vodka.

I used to work at Enteprise and it is a great place to work. I think It all depends on how your GM and your area managers are. In our group our GM understood the importance of a happy employee and I loved it. The only problem I had was the hours. Now that I have a familly I have looked for something with less hours. Something you can do, is start in rental work hard to get promoted to branch manager. Then apply to the Admin office. They have lots of opportunity there. (less hours to work also).

It doesn't matter who you work under at ERAC it is still all the same bullshit. They will lie to your face and make you hate yourself.
