Default Commission structure

I'm not interested in working for Enterprise, but I am curious: How does the commission structure at Enterprise work? The rental agency I work for now has a flat 5% bonus for each coverage product, upgrade or fueling option sold. It's not much. What do Enterprise employees get paid hourly and what sort of bonus structure do they have?

MT: Base salary plus overtime. No commission.
MA: Base salary plus minimal overtime and a minimal promotion bonus ($100)
Assistant: Decreased base plus commission (2-4%)
BRM: Decreased base plus commission (3-7.5%)

Commission is usually based on the number of cars in a branch, and the manager's past experience with numbers and sales production. A typical example is a manager making 5% on a 100 car branch will be promoted to a 250 car branch, but take a decrease in commission to 3.5 or 4% because it is technically an "increase" in pay. They are expected to re-earn their commission percentage as they make the branch profitable and grow their fleet.

Bonuses for all employees include employee referral, car sales, and sometimes ESQi.

ARMS are paid 5-10% commission on their whole area- usually 3-8 branches,

Same with GRMS, but they usually have 2-5 ARMS under them, so a total of 15-30 branches.

RVPs/GMs and Admin Department Heads all get paid off of their entire group or region and have a commission structure of 1-5% Of course, you're talking about getting paid off of 1000 or more cars.

I believe the admin heads have a bonus structure that is dependent on their department's numbers, i.e. Loss Control: if we make our goals forthe year or win an exceptional achievement award, the dept head gets a bonus and it's up to him to determine whether the other members of the department are rewarded.

Area Managers are capped at 5% as are Group Managers. City Rental Managers can get up to 10%. Group VP/GM could get up to 15% if they were pioneers. Not sure if there are any of those "dinosaurs" left. "retirement" might have relegated all of them "extinct" :)

The salary depends on what group you work for. Some groups pay no bonuses for being an MA, just a higher base (usually 2 or 3%).

As for commissioned employees, there are no minimum percentage for each employee but the maximum capitations are correct. I've seen Asst Mgrs make anywhere from 0.25% to 4% depends on the past performance of each branch. This goes the same for every commissioned employee along the way. Your base also drops back to MT level so some months you could be making less than your employees. Also, ARMS are maxed at 5% per company policy, unless you have exception approval from corporate on a per person basis

As for bonuses, not all groups hand these out, car sales, ESQi, or otherwise.

Make sure you get all these things in writing before taking any job with ERAC because they currently hold all the cards on your fiscal happiness.

In 09 as an MA you earn an extra $1 per hour over an MT.
