I recently had an interview with ERAC at a branch in AL, but it has been a month since I've heard anything from them! ! I made it through my 2nd interview and have tried to find out an answer from someone about whether or not I'm hired! I finally got in touch with the elusive recruiter after about 2 weeks. She told me that she had submitted all of the necessary paperwork , but the guy that makes the decision went on a week long cruise! So, then I call the following week only to find out that the recruiter and the hiring guy are both out for another week! ! I guess they both decided to go on a cruise together this time! ! ! After reading this site, I am definitely having second thoughts. I hate the company I'm with now, but I refuse to leave a sh*tty situation, just to walk into another one. If anyone can give me some feed back about any of the AL branches or any of the other southern states, I would appreciate it. Stop me before it's too late! !

That is true...Most things in the South are a bit slow....but this is ridiculous. I have a friend who is a MT in Tuscaloosa right now, and he was hired after a week! He's not planning to stay with ERAC much longer anyway. I think his office just got a new manager from HELL! |

The office in tuscaloosa is always hiring new people. they have over 300 cars. but the retention their totally sucks b/c of the fast pace and the tard manager. also, the assistant manager got canned for stealing money for over 1 year.

'Bama, I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this, but you likely didn't get the job. The reson I think this is several fold. First, as a 2.5 year employee, I can tell you that summer is the busiest time of year for Enterprise and they ramp up their hiring for this busy season. They aren't going to leave a good candidate twisting in the wind while they go on vacation. Recruiters get evaluated and compensated base on how many new hires they bring in. Its in their best interest to get you hired. Think of it like an Army Recruiter--they will tell you whatever you want to hear to meet their numbers. Let me guess. You're first interview was with the recruiter. That went well. You're second interview was with an area manager. He/she saw something in you they didn't like and isn't passing you on the the next level. Its not some weird vacation that everyone is on, they're hoping you catch on and give up so they don't have to come right out and say "no". This is what you have to understand: Among the rest of the things the Area manager is looking for is durability. Everyone at Enterprise has their performance quantified in some way. One of the "4 core" components that Area Managers are measured in is retention. Simply put, the ability to keep your employees from quiting. The company-wide retention level is about 70% anually. That means 3 out of 10 people walk out the door in their first year. By year 3, 90% of your work force from the first year is gone. That's very high. Area Managers want to protect their rention rates the way a quarterback would want to keep interceptions down. If he/she thought there was a chance you would quit on them for any reason, they will pass on you and your application will go no further. This is a good thing for you. You could drive a city bus and make more per hour than working at Enterprise, but we won't get into that. Hang in there. While you do need to pay bills, you don't want a job that makes you a miserable bastard.

Consider yourself blessed that you haven't heard from them. I am glad that you found this site and are starting to realize who are you dealing with. If they wanted to hire you, you would have known that the day of your interview with the area manager. Maybe a day or two later....Now, 2 weeks later forget them. You are much better off staying away from them anyway. Just by reading the horror stories on this site should give you an idea what you would have been going through if you were hired. Have a beer and continue living your happy life ( that you wouldn't have had if ecrap hired you ) !

I noticed that during the interview the area manager kept asking me if I would leave for more money if an opportunity arose. Of course, I told him, "No, I would never leave Enterprise because of the great advancement opportunities." You guys think maybe he saw through my charade?? Oh well, it was for the best anyway. I have a friend that is currently working in the Tuscaloosa office. He says it's a nightmare since the new manager has rolled in. He's preparing to leave soon.

I am no longer w/ ERAC but as I have stated before--some of your attitudes are the exact reason that I was promoted 7 times in 4 years. As for money, last year I made $74,000 and $10,000 in January 2006 as an area manager. It was tough for a couple of years, but hard, honest work does pay off. At the same time, I completely disagree w/ the way so many ERAC employees have been treated in other groups. Is my situation different from yours, or do you think most groups are similar? Let me know
