Default Interview Process

I just had my phone screening interview last night, and while I understand the purpose of this I felt it was very indepth, and I can't think of what else they would want to ask me in the actual interviews since there are supposed to be 2-3 more? Does anyone know they process and what to expect?

its all about repetition with enterprise when hiring. You go through 3 pointless and identical interviews.one on the phone, then the recruiter in person then finally an area manager or even a group rental manager......its a fucking cake walk.if you cant get hired by erac you have real problems....

Seriously everyone says how hard it is to get into ERAC but its not. Basically they do turn down about 10 people for everyone they hire but the ones they turn down are so fucking awful its not exactly like they had a chance in the first place. If you are a normal, hard working individual with no obvious floors they will take you....

Have fun washing cars for a few weeks then go and get a real job!

Actually I thought I had many good selling points about why ERAC should hire me. My manner was professional and all that. I received the "good luck" card a few days later.

Where did I go wrong? Perhaps my views of how I treat customers was not along the lines that the interviewer was looking for.... I reflected integrity, standing by my word, honesty etc. In other words I described myself in terms of characteristics they don't want.

I plan to apply in a different county and this time answer the profile on the online app as I believe they would want there managers to behave based upon the trickery, verbal slight-of-hand, and crafty approaches these forums have unveiled. Or am I over-reacting to the alleged business ethics?

Does anyone want to propose a 60 Minutes episode with me?

FYI I am a male, mid-life career. I used the interviewer's name as my user name as password as honoring her phoney attitude. She was all smiles but took a mental step back when I looked her in the eyes.

Yep, you hit the nail on the head. They didn't want you because you are the best of the best. Move along.

You probably said something that didn't fly with the manager interviewing you. I saw some people make general statements like they wanted to use Erac as a stepping stone for some other passion they have. Some came in with no energy or exhibited little confidence. There are numerous reasons why they could have said no. From my experience interviewing people, many people just don't interview well, whether it's because of their lack of experience in interviewing or whatever. Not saying that's you, but none of us were in the room when you interviewed, so in reality no one can give accurate feedback to you. Contrary to many beliefs, Erac doesn't hire everyone. You're not a loser if you don't get hired at Erac. That's just stupid when people tell posters that. The area manager does NOT want to hire someone they feel will be a sure thing to leave the company. It only negatively affects their retention number, which affects their bonus and promotability. I saw a lot of people turned down in an area that really needed people. Don't sweat it, man.

I wonder how being "mid-life career" helped or hurt things. I sort of get the impression that Enterprise hires few people over 30.

I don't understand why people make such a big deal out of washing cars, when you took the job they told you that you would need too. Also when you complain of this being a retail job but they say it isn't, one of the questions in my interview was exactly this, "Why do you want to sell in a retail environement?" So they came right out and told me it was retail.

Shit I sit behind a desk every day and don't have the luxury of going outside all day. I would love to get out and wash a car or take a cruise to go pick someone up.

I think since most of you haven't had other jobs you only find the bad in this one, guess what there are a lot worse things out there.

Not too many in my experience Admin. Most people near or over 30 have been with ERAC 5+ years.

As for the integrity deal, that's probably what knocked the applicant out. The company wants you to appear that you have integrity, but also want you to fold and give up integrity at the drop of a hat if the customer is upset. You are either supposed to tell them too bad, so sad - no rental(uncaring and no integrity); or bend to their complaints so as not to get a bad ESQI score, or be able to rent 1 more car if sitting with too many on the lot (spineless, no integrity).

ERAC is a company of so many hipocracies......

The DOL has investigate ERAC big time in the recent past due to age bias issues. ERAC insiders know that "older" employees turn over faster on average than naive college grads. There have been lawsuits too I believe. There are always exceptions, but most at ERAC feel this way. The interview process became more of a cover your arse process to justify why you were not going to continue to pursue a candidate. Keep in mind the hiring managers are held accountable for retention, so they only want to hire people they feel will have a strong chance to succeed.

The person who developed this website has never worked at Enterprise! Maybe they couldn't get hired? Maybe they didnt like when someone tried to upgrade them? I dunno. I do know that there is a website out there...for people who complain about winning the LOTTERY...and how bad that is. Please. They have been rated numerous times by their own people and by JD Powers as one of the 100 best companies to work for.

Think: On the night before your wedding...you get cold feet...who do you talk to...the guy that just got a divorce?...or the guy thats happily married? Come on People...it's work! Not play time. They work hard...why knock them. They hire more college grads right out of college than any other company. People in their early to mid 30's dont necessarily want to make 32-34k in their first year and they want ambitous and driven people to run their branches. They have more people under the age of 30 making 100K...how is this a poor opportunity? They promote. They empower. They reward.

Whats the fall out rate in the first year of Med School? or Law School? So Doctors and Lawyers are idiots too? Think! Anything worth having is difficult to attain. They arent paying you 100k for nothing.

Around since 1957
Never had a negative year
Never been unprofitable
Never had a lay off
Layered on 500 million last year alone
78% retention rate.

I dont even work for them...but I have done some minor research! Do the same.
