Default Recently Quit

I worked Five Months at ERAC. This was the worst five months of my life. I had no life, because I worked 60 hours a week. I made no money, and slaved at this piece of shit job. This is all because of corporate BS. Andy Taylor owns all of the branches and makes a shit ton of money. He does not care that there is no retention of employees. He makes his money just fine with the average employee working only three months. Therefor, he doesn't have any reason to pay more, assign less hours, or anything. However, If I were Hertz, I would focus on my employees and I bet they will pass ERAC as number one. Bottom line, ERAC won't be number one for long, if Andy doesn't wake up and smell the coffee. Thank god I am no longer an employee..

That was probably a pretty stupid move. 5 Months? You didn't even get your feet wet. People on this site have worked/slaved for years for the green machine. But the fact we put our time in greatly ensures us of getting a better job in the future. Hopefully you are employed, because only lasting 5 months shows to future employers that either you were a problem or a quiter. Stay at a job for more than a year before you decide to quit again.

I disagree. You either love it or you tolerate it until you hate it. It seems that employers really don't care about loyalty anymore. When asked at an interview why you left...just say there no growth opportunity. They will not/should not ask you to elborate. It shows the employer that you want to grow but yet it doesn't show them just how miserable you really were.

I would have to disagree as well. The fact that you stayed at ERAC for only 5 months is not going to hurt your future employment possibilities - unless you already have a long string of jobs before ERAC on your resume that show you don't tend to stick around long. One blip on your resume won't hurt. I slaved at ERAC for only 4 months - actually 3.5 months and then gave my 2 weeks notice. The job I had previous to ERAC I had my entire 4 years in college. After ERAC, it took me over a year to find a job that I really wanted. I was EXTREMELY picky. I have been at my current job almost 4 years now and I am VERY glad I didn't stay with ERAC any longer than 4 months, as it would have been even harder to leave.

I joined ERAC with a friend - right after college. She was just as miserable as I, but didn't want to quit so quickly because she also thought it would look bad on her resume. She said she was going to stick it out for a couple more months and then move on. Well guess what - they got their claws into her. She skilled and then grilled and was a manager by 1 year. As of last year she told a friend of ours that she was completely miserable and depressed and cried everyday on her way to work. She now feels like she has no option but to stay - she feels trapped. It's good you cut your losses early - no point in wasting precious time at a place that just isn't right for you.

When I interviewed for my current job my boss inquired about ERAC. I told him straight up the reasons I left. I told him about the shady deals behind the scene, how we treated the customers, the drinking, the hooking up, how no one was married, how they discouraged you from having a family because it would get in the way with moving around to different branches with new promotions, their terrible retention numbers, the manipulation, and all of the lies. He was a bit stunned with my honesty. I then told him I was looking for a job that was very much the opposite. I wanted to work for people I respected, who respected me, had good family values, good company benefits, a company that was ok with me having a family and a place where I could put down some roots and grow with the company. Just be sure when you interview for your next job that you have it well planned out in your mind what to say as to the reasons you felt quitting after only 5 months was the right thing to do.

Good luck and best wishes!
Ash

Employers understand that most sales job have high turnover rate for whatever reasons. Let's be honest, there is NO such thing as loyalty anymore with the employer or employee. If you are unhappy just quit. Life is too short. Why be miserable???
I have a a couple of friends who invest 1 1/2 yrs. with ERAC. They made it to BM, and making $50k+ yr. They are miserable inside, but cannot quit b/c they are comfortable with the money they are making. They tell me, "what employer now a days will pay you $50k yr.+ to start?" They are TRAP in what they are doing....unless they get promoted to ARM or go to Admin. Promotion after BM are very slim at ERAC.

You aren't trapped, companies will pay for you if you prove to them you are worth the money. If you ahve the experience you can get pretty much whatever salary you want within reason for the position. You just have to sell yourself as if you are one of a kind.

I have a friend, no offense to him but he is useless, but for some reason he holds himself so well when interviewing, He gets positions with companies starting at 50-60K freequently then stays there about 3 months and doesn't like it an he leaves, and this is all from the one main experience he had 10 years ago working as a district manager for Large chain store. I cracks me up cause I always tell him he isn't qualified for the jobs he gets and he says he knows that. This has happened 3 times in the past year and a half.
