The whole two weeks notice is just a courtesy to your employeer, there is no rule that says you must give them two weeks. Your employeer is only obligated to pay you for time worked, so if you turn in your two weeks and they show you the door at the end of the day then they only have to pay you for the end of that day. Companies will sometimes offer a severance package to pay you for a couple of weeks/months once you quit/get fired, this is out of courtesy from the employer.

Since you have only been working at ERAC for such a short period of time I would just tell them that today is your last day. ERAC has a phone number established called the work number (of something close to it) which is a phone number for people to call and get an automated response on 1) dates of employment 2) salary/pay rate at time of termination. You should be able to easily explain your short employment at ERAC, forget about getting a reference.

The last time I called Enterprise for an employee reference, they referred me to a 1-800 number for a third party company that provides this service ... for a fee.

You gotta be kidding me???

Duh, how could I be so stupid, this is "Enter-bend-over" we're talking about!!! They're the type that (quoting Larry Wildman from "Wall Street") would not only sell their mother to make a deal, they'd send her C.O.D.

Still haven't quit yet. I'm waiting on offers from 2 different companies (any day now). Even though I hate working at ERAC, it's still a little spending money for now. As soon as I get an offer, I'm out.

I am going to write a formal letter, but I'm not going to put my two weeks in.

I (KEY WORD) almost feel bad for my managers because both of the car preps are about to quit as well and they have no clue. Oh well, the branch did just get an intern. Lol.

Remember they are a cult. they will try to make you feel bad and like you are doing something very wrong. I make a lot more money now and work 35 hours a week. No weekends. All holidays off. 2 weeks vaca 10 sick 5 personal. and my sick rolls over. I dont pay social security, i get a pension that accumulates interest instead. Lunches you ask? no matter what at least an hour and 20 minutes everday. time down includes, magazines, papers, talking with friends and internet. My point is there is better options than enterlies. You seem like your on the right track. please continue your life is missing you.

I do see a lot of people giving a heads up on how they try to keep you when you try to quit. Fortunately, one upper hand I do have is the ability to see through upper management bullshit and brush it off (the previous company I worked for made bullshitting their employees a form of art). I'll have no problems resisting their attempts to keep me with the company. I'm a pretty blunt and straight-forward person. If they keep pestering me I have no problems being curt with them.

Actually, that would be something I would look forward to doing...

Make sure you are "curt" with your ARM when they take you out to golden spoon in an attempt to talk you out of it. Keep insisting that you want the Chocolate yogurt and that they can take the job and shove it.

Screw the formal letter. Do what some guy in my region did. He wrote "I QUIT" really large and bold on a piece of paper and faxed it to his branch. He was never heard from again.

Honestly, don't even write the letter. The minute you get your new job, just don't show up.

Hey, I read your first post and I felt EXACTLY the same way. My wife, who was at first supportive, started to complain about the hours and how I didn't want to do ANYTHING after work. But as soon as I quit she noticed that I was happier and more active. With your short time there don't bother putting it on your resume. But do move on soon.
