I graduated from a prestigious university out west with a pretty good gpa. I moved to an area lacking good job opportunities. I needed to pay some bills, so I took the Enterprise management trainee gig. I plan on staying for just a few more months to pay off a few debts. My question is this: What should I put on my resume to fill in my time at E? I'm embarrassed to write that I worked for Enterprise. Will employers feel sorry for me or laugh hysterically when I tell them I was an MT? I was considering saying that I was in prison on child pornography charges, since that is much more respectable than renting cars. Advice is greatly appreciated.

Actually, having ERAC on your resume is not as bad as one might think. If the future employer knows anything about ERAC, they might even be impressed. Not with your choice in careers, but that you were willing to rent cars for 12+ hours/day. They know that any piece of shit job they offer you will be attractive in comparison. In fact, the employee referral bonus is double at my husband's job if the person is an ERACer. What I might worry about is looking like a job hopper if you leave after only a few months.

it can look impressive if you MAKE it. I don't care if you were a MT, lie and say you were Marketing Manager or something....if a new job calls ERAC and ask, all they can say is the dates that you work, not the position. I was a 3 year asst mgr, but i put down i was regional and got a $95k/yr job. My employer doesn't even know the better and ERAC has to shut the F up about me screwing up.

I work at Enterprise right now and hate it. Employers actually love it and search for it on resumes. I was and still am offered job opportunities by these business men that come in, they know that you can bust ass and pt up with complete bullshit for 55 hours a week for 9.42/hour. Anything they offer you seems like a dream come true. I am entering month number 7 and am just waiting to find something else after I graduate with my third degree so I can write a letter to all management and Andy Taylor himself on what a shit hole his company is becoming. Customers dont come back for the customer service, they come back because they can get a car for pennies a day and if they bitch enough about something we did wrong they will get the rental for free. We will do anything to make the customer happy!!

Good companies dont love it! We allt ry to convince ourselves they do but truthfully we all know that deep down we look like rental monkeys that didnt sort out a job quick enough after college and got sucked into retail until something good came along. Many other people will offer you jobs when they hear you work at ERAC but you shouldnt take any of them because they are usally sales or retail...basically ERAC in other industries... My advice is quit...tell the future employer you travelled after college...and dont put erac on the resume! It will also hurt your chances of getting a good salary becasue ERAC pays chump change so they think they can hire you cheap too!

Companies that actively recruit ERAC people know that they can offer you a "shit sandwich" that is a little tastier than the "turd burger" that you are used to chewing on.... and that to you it will be "much" better. It really is about perspective. Think about it. Do the really respected Companies in the USA come knocking down doors for ERAC's best and brightest? From my experience it is other crappy sales positions, car dealers, etc.

Look at it this way, you have to start somewhere. There are worse jobs out there than ERAC. Employers like to see ERAC on a resume because they know you are willing to walk through walls to get your job done, even if you aren't the highest CDW seller. They know about the training that ERAC provides and that it incorporates real life situations (hopefully). When looking for another job, take everything that ERAC says you are good at. Save MS01's, save stack ranking reports, print out CDW sales for a day you had particularly good sales for. Just don't be a job hopper, employers don't like that. ERAC is a shit company because they treat their people like yesterdays meatloaf, but it's not a bad place to start and get your experience.

I just received an offer from a major financial company in NYC (rhymes with Foldman Backs), for great pay, bonuses, benefits, etc. I've worked for ERAC for 4 or 5 months, they asked me about what I did at Enterprise, and the key is to make yourself sound more important than you actually were (the title Management trainee starts the ball rolling that way)... but I was able to get hird after two interviews... granted, I was referred by a friend that worked there, but as soon as I pass my drug/background check, I'm giving my two weeks at ERAC. It'll be nice to have a comma in my weekly paycheck. From MT salary to about 70grand a year, should be nice.
