First off I'd like to say that I am a Car-Prep. By no means is the job glorious, but it pays my bills while I am in school. Like aforementioned, I am the hear-all, see-all of the company. I could easily get a few different Area Managers, and Branch Managers fired, if need be. I also get a kick out of some MT's trying to dis a Car-Prep, with an asinine amount grammatical errors. I am out of ERAC in two months.

Good for you! Get out while the getting is good. Make a small statement for all the other preps while your at it. When you go, think of a couple of people that have treated you like shit, and burn their ass on your exit interview. If you post it here, or let it out that a prep took down an MA, MT, Assistant, or BM; you may get the point across that the preps, drivers and other hourly folks know WAY more than some think. Good luck.

WOW! You're telling me that there are some white boys that actually worked as car preps?? I worked for ERAC in Houston back in the 90's and all our car preps were illigal immigrants from Mexico. Seriously. Most of them couldn't speak english but they knew enough to wash cars, sell dope, and screw you over if you didn't give them tons of respect. I think they made more money than most MT's as they'd keep anything that customers would leave in the car and claim they never saw it. I'm sure the items would end up in the local pawn shop the next day. I know for a fact they found numberous guns, brief cases, wallets, and other goodies on a daily basis. One guy at our branch actually found a brief case full of money and some crack! He was jumping and yelling for joy so loud that everyone came out to see what was up. If he had shut up he could have taken it home with him.

I am NEVER left alone to wash a car unless it is very dead and the car is not needed. If the car is needed for a customer, often times there is 2 or 3 people helping to get he car out for the customer in the shortest time. I am not working more often than I am because we have such great team work at our location. The most common task is to drive to another location with someone else to pick up another car, which I think falls under Car Prep, because if there was no car, I couldn't prep anything. If you don't like your job, then quit it. |

At least car preps don't have to worry about the swamp ass which is impossible to prevent during the summer months following the bullshit erac dress code. I got pit stains down to my waist. Otherwise, car preps are human beings and trying to use erac like a stepping stone just the same as an MT. Some people need to get off the high horse.

Working as a car prep was fun. The job was easy and you could wear shorts when it got hot. It was one of the few jobs at ERAC where the pay was reasonable.

Yeah, I definately think I get paid for what I do... Which isnt a whole heck of a lot.

I should be getting interviewed for this position in the comming weeks in southern NH...just wondering if ERAC drug tests for this position or not...I've seen both side of the story on these forums and am just looking for a strait answer
