amen reality, there is great wisdom in what you say. the most important thing for current e slaves to realize is that there are opportunities out there. obviously, if you can sell, and enjoy it, the options are limitless. however, if you are like me and hate to sell, there are still worthwhile opportunies for you. i took a job with goodwill to get out of enterprise. i knew that it was not going to last long, but they paid a base of 40K plus bonuses and i set my own hours, normally 7:00-3:30, although i did work saturdays. the idea was that i was out of my personal hell(enterprise) and was able to look for a more meaningful career while still making ok money. if you are thinking about leaving e, realize that the next job you get doesn't have to be the one you will have for the rest of your life. most people have several jobs before finding the right one. just find one that makes you happy for the time being while you look for one better suited to you.

I've seen many people that left Erac get sales jobs that they hate. Erac is so shitty that is makes many other jobs look great. Once you get into a new position, if you're not content with where you are and what you do, then that is probably not the job for you. It's a no brainer that it will be more than likely better than erac, but just becasue it's better than erac doesn't mean it's the job for you. Erac pigeon-holes MANY employees into future sales jobs because of the nature of most of the experience you get while at Erac. I got tons of calls for sales jobs after I left Erac, but I was hesitant to take them because I didn't like sales. I finally settled because I needed money and the one I settled for had the potential to make lots of it. But it wasn't for me. Then my present job came around and I was extremely fortunate to get it. Lots of people come on this site and say how great Erac is for future jobs...but I'm betting my sense of humor that most of those jobs were sales jobs. How many non sales jobs were knocking on the door after erac? If you like sales, then like bleedinggreen said, sky is the limit. But if you don't like sales, then Erac on a resume is not nearly as great and is simply what I've said it is in previous posts....retail management experience. I think many people settle for other sales positions because of the experience they got w/ erac. But that is not what they really want to do. They settle because they don't have other alternatives.

i appreciate all the feedback. For the time being i'm going to look around, apply to a few places, and keep my eyes open. At least i can put BCAM on my resume instead of MT! Also, i have been printing out all of my accomplishments (high esqi, sales rankings) to sell myself to the next employer all along.

I can some this job up with a simple fact. The most common job people guess I have when I'm in my monkey suit is used car salesman. Man gotta love that level of respect. No offense to the 2% of decent and honest used car salespeople out there. Keep posting, lets bring this green monster down. I dream of the day the giants fall, and the mom and pops regain it all.

I know what you mean! When I used to work for Enterprise I used to play the same game.... Everywhere I went, I would walk in the door with a big smile on my face in my white shirt and tie and ask people what they though I did for a living... I actually kept pretty acurate statistics on a notepad that I carried around... It is the darndest thing, but I received the very same results as Enterprison... Most people guessed that I was a used car salesman... It is a fun game to play on lunch breaks... I bet I surveyed over 350 people so you know it is accurate

Thank you so much for the input. I have two friends who work for ERAC , one a BM and another in accounting in corporate, and they both love it. After researching and finding this site, I was a little worried. I really appreciate your post. I have no problem paying my dues. I've been in the workforce for 5 years, and my company was bought 3 years ago and it all went to hell so I am looking ot start over, ( sad enough I will only be taking about a 6,000 paycut to restart after 5 years of service.( Thats how bad it got) Anyways, I am going to apply as both my friends have stated that it is definitely the type of environment for me. THanks agian MH South Jersey.

QUIT As a manager when you figure that you may make 4000/ month but you are working 60-70 hours per week, that is about 15.38/hour. That wouldn't be too bad if you were just someone sitting on your arse doing whatever but YOU AREN'T. You are outside in a suit washing a car. You are getting screamed at by someone who won't drive a particular model You are getting screamed at by someone who doesn't understand why you don't have the car they reserved. Bottom line - You can work less, Make more money, and have a LASTING career with little to no stress in another industry. Have you ever asked yourself why the oldest person you see is usually in about 35?
