- PDMs -- what a load of crap-- tell me how I'm supposed to have an employee out from 10am-4pm doing "sales" when we don't even have enough people to run the store smoothly?
- lack of support from upper management. my RRM was HORRIBLE. wouldn't ever help out customers, except for the few times they'd pick up the phone when the office was slamming -- and they would book insane deals, like deliveries on monday mornings, or book a minivan for a res in an hour when we don't have one and we're insanely busy (hence the reason they had to pick up the phone in the first place). the best was when my RRM came to my office, we had a huge line of people, only 2 of us were actually in the office to write tickets, and my RRM goes and washes their car in the bay, then comes back in, WALKS PAST ALL OF THE WAITING CUSTOMERS and goes into their office. what, couldn't help out one or two people? apparently they're above that. what a great morale booster.
- inconsistent direction from upper management - one day i'm told to CQ everyone the same. another day i'm told to just let it slide if someone important that gives us business is referring this person. so, in reality, we're not treating everyone the same, now are we?
- not having any cars EVER on a monday morning.
- the company was starting to hire idiots as a part of their "affirmitive action" -- essentially pressure from the group manager to get a more diverse workplace. i'm sure they passed on a bunch of qualified white guys, even though we were short staffed, just because we already have enough white guys working for us. deal with it -- the midwest is full of white men, so who do you think is going to work at places that resemble a frat house?
- ESQI -- obviously if everyone in the branch is miserable b/c we're all burned out and underpaid, and we feel abandoned by upper management, then do you think we're going to 'go the extra mile' with customers? it's hard enough to drag ourselves out of bed in the morning to go to a job to be verbally abused by customers for 12 hours!

I'm so glad I'm out. It's been over a month since I left, and every day just gets better and better. I can't believe I held on for as long as I did with the company (over 2 years!).

This is soooo true!!!
Hasn't this been posted before?

I left because of everything that was said here and....

1) As a BM I was told to change time cards so my branches would show a profit. One of my MTs had 3 small children. A few hours of overtime a week can make a difference.

2) The 5:30am phone meetings with ARM. Hello, I'm already working 80+ hours a week, and I hated starting my day with a list of demands from ARM.

3) Marketing...you're dammed if you do and dammed if you don't. I got yelled at for going marketing, but then got yelled at for not being at my branch all of the time.

4) I HATED MY JOB and I started hating myself.

I left in the spring and I know work for a group of newspaper selling advertisement. I make more money, get a $400 a month car allowance, and I maybe work 35 hours a week. If you're thinking of leaving, do it you will be much happier.

I was told by my RVP that her job was more "time sensitive" then her husband's could ever be. Her husband is in the Army and was out in the field training for deployment to Iraq.
Hmmmm...working at Enterprise or training to defend out country's freedom. After that I could no longer even look at my office without realizing how dumb my job was, and how it meant nothing in the big picture of life. So I told her to take the time, signed off on her unpaid time off, and then emailed my letter of resignation to my RVP and ARM. Best thing I ever did!!
A True Leader! I really respect your actions, I quit after only 7 weeks at Enterprise. That's all the longer it took me to realize what a piece of shit company this is, that lures you in with nothing but empty promises.

Alright here it is.

I work for enterprise now, for a little under a year and a half. I run the second biggest branch in my state, got that a day before my one year anniversary. I look out more for my employees' careers more than my own, and that is why I have been successful. I drive an hour to work, i work 75+ hours a week. I will prob. hit over 50 grand this year. This is the hardest job I have ever worked, i am 23 with a wife at home waiting every night to see me...and guess what guys. I show up to work everyday to get the job done, and I do it very well.

Hard work will lead to a big paycheck, either with enterprise or without enterprise. Every company has a complaint site from people who just didn't like their job, get over it. I am sure you will be complaining on another website about your current job soon.

I am not here to say enterprise is the best job ever and they are the best fit for everyone, I am here to say man up, shut up, work hard and somebody will eventually reward you for it. Please everyone thing twice before complaining about everything in life, that is what will wear you down.

I love the work I do, not necessarily who I always work for. I haven't been brainwashed and when I hit my two year anniversary in may I will be throwing for arm spots or going with another company. I am sorry some of you didn't realize you weren't cut out for enterprise sooner than later. I don't hate people cutting down enterprise, I just hate to see people complain so much.

The only reason I even found this site, is because the companies I worked for during college had the same kind of complaint sites, it just makes me laugh!

You seem to be quite proud of your accomplishments by emphasizing you make $50k at 23 although you work many hours to earn it. Do you consider that an accomplishment at your age? I'm curious what type of background you come from to be so proud? We are normally byproducts of the environment we were raised in. March on, you are doing well and accomplishing much in life.

your're a sheep in the truest since...I'm not gonna knock you for being passionate, we need more people with passion, I'm gonna knock you for being naive.
First of all let's talk about the wife at home. She may act cool now but give it time, I can tell you are still green. You work 75 hours a week...that puts you home at about 8pm mon-fri. Now, maybe for a while that will slide with the wifey, but wait a few months to a year. Pretty soon she is gonna get pissy, especially when she starts attending the erac events. Look around at those events, the spouses/gf/bfs that aren't employees look so out of place. You can tell they're mostly like "wtf am i doing hanging out with these tools for?" 75 hours a week, with a young wifey at home, good luck holding your marriage together. It's the cold truth man, understand it before it's too late.
Now let's look at your awesome wage.
75 hours a week
50 grand a year
You're making around $12.80 and hour, which is including time and a half for OT, so the actual true hourly wage is more like $9 something.
Ask your college educated friends how much they make. True, they may have a slightly lower yearly net (avg entry college wage is around 40k) but you are working 35 hours a week, on average more than them.
35 * 52= 1,820!
you are working 1,820 hours more than your avg peer. That should put into perspective how awesome your wage is.
The chances of you getting an ARM spot are 1/250. The chances of progressing beyond this 1/500. Odds that you will be with the company in one year, 1 in 3. Odds that you will be with the company in two yrs, 1 in 10.
LOL at you trying to act the big timer role, dude we've all been there long before you get a life while you are still young.

please look into my message and see that i know what enterprise holds. It is rated in the best ten places to LAUNCH a career. Which it will do for me, with them or with another company. Most people on this site are only pessimist. Please get a life, and work on your attitude in life. You will just grow old pissed off at life, have fun with that one.

most of the people here have real life experience with ERAC, you have just begun your mission. pessimist, when talking of erac experiences, equals reality.
you are already back tracking, by justifying your existence at erac as temporary. in your first post you were so gung ho about loving the work...
my attitude is marvelous, esp since leaving erac and making a geo move.
everyday i hated myself for embarrassing my family with my erac occupation.
it weighed on my soul, i feel 1000000% better.
40 hr work weeks and adequate pay will do that to a nigga.
have fun, i corp rent frequently, make sure the taurus is clean please.

I graduated college 4 years ago and have been doing real estate and loans since. But now that the market has taken a tough turn, I'm trying to look for something that makes great money and has a future.

I guess after reading these posts that Enterprise is not the way to go. Can someone provide suggestions to alternative work and how to find them? I live in Las Vegas.

Thanks!!!

I get to spend time with my wife and family and friends. The reason I'm posting today is that I was at a business meeting this morning with the different divisions of my company coming together and actually talking freely and exchanging ideas to improve the company and further our mission statement, I actually felt as if I was a part of something, and that my opinions really mattered. When I was at ERAC I was promised a chance to build a career, that ERAC was a way to build your own business and success. I can not remember a single idea I put forward to my ARM that made one iota of difference in how the company ran. So much for running my own business. I've been reading posts on this site for 2 years now and I really admire some of you, sometimes when I read a post I can really relate, I think back to all those times I used to go home pissed off that I worked 12 hrs and didn't take a lunch and was docked an hour for a lunch I didn't take because I was seen eating a cookie while running to go pick up a customer from some place after closing. After I quit I used to go back and visit some of my friends who stayed behind and I could see that they were getting tired of the whole thing, in fact within six months after I left more than half the people I knew were gone and replaced. It amazes me that a company with such a high turnover has its staunch defenders on here. Not all those people were terrible at their jobs, there were some great employees but they got fed up, or felt that they were lied too. It's been a year and I don't recognize a single person in the branches that I worked at. Anyone who has worked at ERAC and left can walk into any branch and identify who has been there for a month and who has been there for a year. Look at their faces, the fresh meet is all happy go lucky, sold on the dream ready to shake your hand and do whatever it takes to build ESQI sell CDW. The ones that been there longer look tired, worn out and unhealthy. I met with a friend who used to work with me at ERAC and he had moved up to assistant manager and I asked him how his pay improved and he told me he was making $35,000 with commission and he told me that once he hit BM he would be maxed out and make $70-75k a year. Now I don't want to do the math for you, but if you work 140hrs every 2 weeks and make 35 and expect to make 70-75 doesn't that mean you are being ripped off? I work 75hrs every 2 weeks in total and make 95k straight commission and I can take a lunch and go on holidays whenever I want. After a discussion with my friend he also quit ERAC. The corporate structure isn't designed to make you money, and when you are in a position to make money a lot of people are suddenly let go or seem to quit. Anyway, enough with the rambling. I salute any person who has the motivation to walk away from this company and start again. I've worked in sales all my life and in many careers and the people who take issue with the posters on here, calling them weak and unable to hack it or burger king employees whatever... When you have to work so hard to justify your job at ERAC ask yourself if it's really what you think it is.
