Re: Resume Help so I can get the hell out! I left over 6 years ago to get into Pharma sales. Be careful what you wish for. While it is a zillion times better than working for Enterprise it still has it's downfalls. Money and benefits are infinitely better but pharma today AIN'T what it was yesterday. Now, after 5 and a half years fo pharma, I am a stock broker and couldn't be happier. Pharma is so micro-managed today you are going to think you are still at Enterprise. You are expected to work 45+_ hrs a week calling on Doctors who DON'T want to see you or even trust what you are telling them and then go home to do an additional 10-15 hrs a week on reports and online testing. You will be riding with a manager that really has no clue about your territory and customer base twice a month. You will be treated like a dumbass from some fat, nasty, receptionist who only wants free pens from you. You will not be able to use the autonomy that the company will promise you to run you territory as if it were yours... Sounds familiar??? You will more than likely start out at a company that has the POD system. That is, you will have anywhere from 5-10 counterparts selling the same drugs calling on the same physicians. Remember, they don't want to see you. The good? You will make close to what an AM makes the first year with a $50-65k salary based on your negotiation and sales skills. You get a brand new perosnal car that ususally costs about $650/year. You have the freedom to dick around during the day between calls if you are like most drug reps out there. Be careful, this will catch up with you. Another positive is that you will never get your tie sucked up in a wet/dry vac again however, you will still split your pants wide ass open due to the fact you are bending and squatting over in a sample closet all day long. At least UPS get's to wear those shorts. This is just a minute example but the pharma gig is so much better than Enterprise I say good luck with trying to break in. You can expent at least a years worth of interviews. Count on at least 10+ face to face interviews with District Managers. The competition will be mind-boggling. There 30,000 people trying to get hired to sale pharmaceuticals and their are currently 2500opening throughout the industry at any given time. Gear your resume around sales. Take pictures of all of the awards you have received at Enterprise. You need to come up with a fantastic reason as to why they should hire a retail counter clerk for a regulated position dealing with peoples lives, physicians practices, and FDA approved drugs. Good luck! |
