Wow! Thank heavens I found this place! Fired off yesterday after 5.75 years of really good service. Total bullshit reason. I thought it was me, I bought the whole dream. I was really down!

BUT then I found this place! And, I'm reading posts from people that feel like I do! I'm not crazy after all! :)

I was a Service Advisor in Group 66. And, I was pretty darn good at it if I might say so myself. I also like to banter with my friends. And, judging from how many people showed up at my "Sorry you got fired" party that was held for me last night....I would say I was pretty liked.

Except by our HR person. I was somewhat of a pain in her side, so when the chance came to take something very small and trump it up...Well, she got her way. Strangely, she didnt see the damage to the moral in a already weak enviornment. A few people are taking off next week to look for jobs because my getting fired proved that no matter how good a job you do, if someone doesnt like you thats it.

Stupid.

Well, Frankly, i'm still unsure myself...Didnt mean to double speak or anything....Its only been a day, so I still havetn made sense of it all.

She said I "Crossed the line" with a joke, but it was completely harmless and much less then I have heard from other less profitable, yet still employed people.

Even if the joke you made REALLY "crossed the line," you should've received a warning at the least. Unless you've been warned before and this last incident has escalated beyond verbal and written warnings.

Gee, fired after five and three-quarters years of service? Maybe because you were three months short of six years (meaning you'd be fully vested in profit sharing) you tell me if that's a coincidence.

In Group 24 they used to stage firings right before the six-year mark and it was all for some stupid bullshit like a mistake in underwriting or you couldn't attend a happy hour because of some family/medical emergency.
