I quit without having another job lined up.

That takes real guts ! ! ""saluting" .... God will provide for all your needs .. HE WILL ! I will pray for you :) that you will find another job real soon if you haven't already .... take care ...

So overall... it sucks ass either way. I left because I took a paycut to a branch manager... f*en ridiculous!
you too starred in the "Green Jerry Springer Show" eh ?

My final straw came when my RRM got upset when I told a sales training class a story about how we were really short staffed one day, worked 13 hours straight with no breaks or lunches, and wrote about 80 contracts between basically three people. I tried to put a positive spin on it (the ERAC way) and explained how much teamwork was involved that day and how we survived because of each other. Well, he did not like that I had told everyone the story because he thought that if I was that open about it in training, that means I would also be telling customers and accounts about how ERAC really treats its employees. He even called my BM/AM to have them discuss it with me. I was ready to quit by that point and was waiting on a job offer, but that put me beyond the point of return. Oh yeah, I did tell plenty of customers about it that day and the days following. I even had one lady tell me to quit because her nephew had worked for them, and she knew how rotten it was. Needless to say, I got a new job a few weeks later and have been so happy ever since. I still post here because I find this site humorous. Plus, I never got the exit interview I was promised not that ERAC keeps promises anyway to customers or employees…

i dont think its gonna happen....too bad, I had some very good constructive criticism too (and a whole heck of a lot of non-constructive to throw in)

It always amazes me how much of what we say at admin/training gets back to those in the branch. It's almost as if they're running one massive snitching club, waiting to get someone screwed over for speaking the truth.

I think you are onto something there. I know a few times I would find myself riding in the car to another branch and that branch's manager would be driving. He would ask me what I thought of my BM and said it was all confidential. He would ask leading questions that were a dead give away that my BM was fishing for information to use against me. I never gave anything up. One of the smartest things I did at ERAC was learned very quickly that there are no secrets and to trust no one.

My final straw was when I was leaving the branch one Friday with the intent to drive 2.5 hours to my parents house. As I was leaving the drive way the ABM came running out waving his arms in the air. He came to my car and said, "your scheduled to work tomorrow." I naturally protested and he just said, "It's on the calendar." He then walked away. That truly was about the 7th or 8th saturday in a row I had worked and he had worked none during that time. I had to cancel all my family plans and enjoy another saturday at erac. I had specifically asked for that Saturday off since some family from North Carolina were coming to my parents house that weekend. I had confirmed my day off earlier in the week and saw that same ABM's name on the calendar. I asked him if he could work and he said, "I've got plans. You need to ask for days off if you need them." When I got there the next day his name had been completely blacked out and mine was written in.

I decided at that moment that I would leave. It was just a couple of more weeks before I got a new job and didn't let the management know I'd be leaving. I left for lunch one busy day and never came back.

You should have told the ABM that you were quitting as soon as he tried to make you work that Saturday given that you had to cancel all your plans with your family. Better yet, you should have said you would be there and not shown up kind of like when customers would make resersvations and do the same. I put my two weeks in on a Friday and was given the typical sit down where the ARM and BM try to sell you into staying. When I declined, I was told to come in that Saturday since I was scheduled anyway. Therefore, I figured they were letting me finish out my two weeks. Of course, I was told after we closed Saturday that I was done with Enterprise. Looks like they got one final weekend out of me. Of course, I will have the last laugh when I get to send many ERAC cars to the impound when I start my new job soon... :)

Yeah, I should have just driven off and never returned. It was my first job and I truly thought that doing that would follow me forever. After a couple of weeks I just didn't care anymore.

Don't worry. I would have done the same as you in that situation. We have too much moral fiber to do that, which is another reason why I left come to think of it.

What really disturbs me the most about this company is the total lack of ethics this company promotes. I mean, the openess of sex, drugs, booz, cheating customers and screwing over everyone is just sick. I have higher expectations from a Fortune 500 company. Outside of the HORRID PAY and working conditions, this was definitely a large factor in my severing my ties from this piece of shit.
