It has been 2 1/2 years since I left ERAC and I am making twice as much as I did working for them and doing A LOT less work. Leaving ERAC was the best thing I ever did!!!!!!

On my last day at ERAC, our car prep pulled me aside. He was a retired guy just trying to make a few extra bucks, and he had clearly seen and done a lot of different things. He said he'd heard I was leaving, then gave me some of the best career advice I've ever heard: "I know they'll try to tell you you're giving up a great opportunity to get promoted and get rich, but look around you at the people in this company. How many people over the age of 30 are working here? And how many new people do they hire every month? What does that tell you about your chances to work here long-term? You made the right choice." Can you get promoted at ERAC and make a ton of money? Sure. How many people actually make it to Level III and above? Very few. Take that number as a percentage of the people they hire every year and it becomes clear the odds are simply not in favor of a bright-eyed college graduate climbing the corporate ladder and securing a financial future for himself and his children. In the year plus that I worked at ERAC, exactly ONE Level III position came open in our region. There was a ton of movement at the MA/AM/BRM level, but virtually nothing at the money-making tier. If I ever start to regret leaving (and it doesn't happen often), I just think about that.

my driver said the same thing to me. there is a move that kills people off before they turn 30. forget the name but he said that movie reminded him of erac. he said to me "look around nobody is older then 30" he is exactly right. drivers are actually smarter then you think and know what goes on, hence why erac hires kids. even if your are lucky enough. that Area mgr. is not what it used to be anyway. 75k to start is very attainable in alot of other jobs today. that is why i left. why stick around for that. that company is one big fantasy land. internal promotions is good and bad also. imagine inbreeding dogs, after a certain amount of time you start getting some pretty fucked up dogs after a while and that is what ERAC is... it is kind of like west virginia.
