I dealt with this call 5 times a week, and it always resulted in getting customer a better rate.
Just tell the rental branch that you are going through an insurance claim and that it is a reimbursement. Nine times out of ten they will give you the insurance rate. If they dont just call another local branch. You should be able to find one at the insurance rate.

I have used the "I'M AN INSURANCE AGENT" angle too with ERAC. It's not like I get a huge discount though or even a real desirable car. But, after reading some of the ideas on this site, I'll have more ammo next time.

Hey guys! While I was searching online on how to get discount rates at enterprise I ran into your website... you guys are awesome!!! - It's funny that I've only gotten a reservation at ERAC and am already pissed off! I booked my reservation about 3 wks ago to pick up at an out of town airport (I'll be flying in) w/ a weekly rate of $122 and $24 per each additional day (mind you that I'm under 25 so I'll have to pay the underage fee also). Then last night I called to change the date and decrease the duration of the trip... so they go and change the rate on me to $139 p/w and $28 p/d. Spoke to the "manager" and told her that what I was told was that my reservation would lock in the original price.... she was not willing to change it. Any suggestions??

yeah...the VIP line is the way to go. i quit 'the company' back in march and have been using that method since for all my rental needs. as a matter of fact, i've been using my old area managers code and referring to myself as his brother-in-law. this method is great because not only do i get the full 50% off, i also get upgrades because the MT's think its a good gesture for the brother-in-law of an area manager. on top of that, i throw in that i used to be a branch manager as well and the next thing you know i'm leaving the lot with a caddy at mid-size rates with the full discount.
i really don't have any horror stories about Erac and generally view it as a rough, but good, experience i got out of at the right time....but damn it does feel good to absolutely take advantage of them.

Rent it with the original duration and then return it early. They can't charge you more days if you weren't in the car. If they charge you for days you weren't in the car uppermanagement would be pissed at them because that could be a huge problem if you made a stink with them.

Rent an expensive car and then throw a used condom under the passenger seat. Call the branch the next day and say that your son/daughter found it under the seat and was playing with it. Your rental will be free. Good luck.
Brilliant!
