An honest appraisal from a UK employee Previously I couldn't bring myself to say this because I couldn't admit it to myself. Now I have the strength to confess a career with ERAC is a sham. Core Values? We value our people and we reward hard work. I've worked with ERAC for five years yet I earn <#27,000. OK I have a company car, fuel card and mobile phone. Fact is I have worked 60+ hour weeks for years in rental, had five promotions and am still earning considerably less than my peers from uni. ERAC hires graduates by the shed load yet can't offer them the opportunities and rewards that it suggests in its recruitment literature. I have seen Area Managers doing a fantastic job being allocated a new area where they make less money. I have seen successful long term ARM's denied a city manager position due to a 'lack of leadership'. I have seen sucessful BRM's earn #3,000 bonuses in 1 month in the good old days of a #24 rate. Now they are stuggling to bank #33,000 gross in a fiscal year. My question to Enterprise is: How does this represent rewarding your people? How do you consider that you will successfully retain your people when you pay significantly below market average and don't offer opportunities for advancement? The cold hard truth has hit me and it hurts. Looking around the labour market I could get a job within my range that would easily pay #40,000 p.a. Gradually others will realise this too and ERAC will be left with the dross and the no-hopers. What an awful business model. |
