My worst example is being told to go out to a customers house and reposses his erac car at 9pm. this house was in the middle of nowhere and i knew the guy was totally insane after speaking to him on the phone. my area manager did not specifically say go to his house at 7pm and take the car but he said "we need to get this car back before you go home tonight" and "do whatever it takes to get the car back". a clever way to cover his own back if something goes wrong. if i look back i should have told the area manager to get lost but all i could think of was effect on the OP for the branch if i didnt go and get it. in the end i tricked the customer into saying i was going to get a replacement car for him and never went back. The point is i should never have been put in that situation in the first place but all erac employees "do what needs to be done" this is because they work so hard their senses are numbed through the hours and work they put in and they just follow orders from above. anyone else got any stories, im sure their will be some terrible tales out there of employee abuse, unethical practice, unlawful dealings etc ......

at my branch we were so short staffed that i had to write the contract, then ask the customer if they were ok at being locked inside (or outside-they had the choice!..well some customers had the choice, the 8.50/day cash qual scum bag had to wait outside) whilst i washed there car out the back!, i was starting work at 0630am and didnt leave before 9pm for over two months, i worked every sat and didnt get a flex, and i thought that my efforts would be rewarded, or at least recognised, but they were not. i finished that two months a broken man, i had aged years and gained about a stone (only had time to get crap food at 0945 when i was eating. im glad to say im now out of that shithole, enterprise treat employee's like slaves, pay them fuck all and then toss them aside, as soon as the 3 month trainee is ready to 'step up'! new graduates please read! * it is NOT a graduate job *for the vast majority the 'career' prospects are non existent *the pay is poor *the conditons are poor *the company (ie senior managers) are dishonest and inethical *it is a degrading and embarassing job- it doesnt get better with promotion

My specific example comes from loosing one of my closest friends from college to ERAC. We joined ERAC together, two weeks after college graduation. Both very excited to be working together and had high hopes for ERAC but found out it was a twisted cult and both wanted out. I left after 4 months, she wanted to put in a couple more months so it wouldn’t look so bad on her resume. Well, after I left – I’m not sure what happened but she began to bleed green. I bumped into an old co-worker from ERAC a couple months after I left and she said that my friend was divulging all my secrets to everyone at work and that co-worker said “don’t think she was ever your friend after the things she said about you”. I have to say I was crushed. I couldn’t believe the way they had turned her into a green machine – and to turn her back on our friendship. I do believe a lot of my resentment and ill feelings towards ERAC should probably be steered towards my ex-friend…she was the one who really wronged me. But ERAC had a great deal to do with it.

The best one was when the Redhill branch turned up one morning and found that all the locks had been glued up.This was because Upper management thought the company was big enougth to negotiate the new rent, but the landlord got fed up and sold the land and office to somebody who then insisted they owned all the vehicles as well. Was very funny to her that they were operating out of the back of a transit with a laptop. What a great way to run your own business.

what about the guy from colchester who left the branch doors open overnight and the safe open aswell. In the morning, the area manager was waiting outside the branch for him to arrive!! not sure if all the cars were still there. He probobly got promoted for doing something as stupid as that.
