Default What's it like working in admin?

Most of the posts from employees seem to be from rental staff. Does anyone from admin have any views on what it's like working outside of the branches?

The admin gig is alright. The pay is kind of sucky unless you make it to Branch Manager before making the shift. But that's part of the trade off: less hours and pain for a more relaxed atmosphere. Except most people are comparing their admin job to a rental job and think it's great, as opposed to comparing their admin job to a similar admin job at another company. Admins still work 45-50 hours.

By the looks of this entire website, I think it would be safe to admit that admin has to be better than working in rental !

I occasionally look at this site to see if anyone I know is being slandered, but all I usually see is rental people complaining about rental ! I've been working at one of the admin departments for the last 2 years and Im pretty shocked to see the volume of hate-mail that is posted on this site. My advice is, if you work in rental and you have good a good head on your shoulders, you will realise that this is undoubtably a massive company growing really fast in the UK & Germany, and as such, there is definately plently of opportunity for YOU to change the way people regard working in rental & ERAC in general.

40-hours, no weekends, less customer contact, less pressure from customers, more from employees. Slower promotions due to smaller divisions, less $$ because you're no longer generating income for the company (in most admin positions). Virtually no respect from your rental counterparts for "not being able to hack it" (again on average). I couldn't be happier that I made the change... I Love it.

it might be "growing fast in the uk" but this is totally unsustainable business!, it is on the back of RBS, whose rate for most deals, we dont even half break even. Even the 'average rate' for all rbs deals still does not cover our cost base, and the used car market is notsaving erac anymore either..look you might not truly understand this at admin, but erac in the uk is up shit creek.
