Its just a shame that my twatty area manager would make me rent the vehicle anyway. My attitude was if I was forced to do it, then I would damm well make sure they were rented one way.

It is a shame that so many area managers show no respect to car preps, as without them, these area managers would be stuffed !!!!
Preps and group drivers are the eyes and ears of the company and got me out of many sticky situations when I needed cars from the other side of town (Every day really).

Anyone (and I know of several BMs and ARMs in London) who thought that because they were drivers/preps meant they were idiots never got any help from them and treated them like crap.

In almost every situation the drivers ended up coming out on top because they had the balls to stand up to people.

look, erac dont have money for trivial things like tyre pressure gauges, they need to spend the spare money on court cases against tin pot competitors who have had the cheek to think they can also use the same letter of the alphabet.

its a good job that erac feel they are above the law, or the fact they have just lost the case against eurodrive would have really iritated them.

ha ha ha ha ha!!!

Drivers can either be your best asset or a complete pain in the arse - like everywhere else there are good drivers who actually take pride in how a car goes out, and who will be helpful if you listen to them, and bad drivers who go uot of their way to be awkward

As far as the issue of bald tyres goes - most branches have tyre tread gauges - failing that they have those kwik fit cards with the guideline on the corner, and failing that, everyone has their own eyes. You can see if a tyre is near the limit or under it - and in that situation, you do not rent the vehicle. Sometimes this check gets missed, especially if gaining for example a car from another branches drop which is going to be cleaned on the orad and delivered straight out - yes it does happen as i`m sure it does with every car rental company. there are also thousands of people who drive around everyday in their own cars with illegal tyres. The people who have the responsibilty to check tyres are those in the branch renting it. If an area manager tells you to rent the car anyway with illegal tyres, say no, and document it - you cannot be fired for that. Not checking tyres is not an excercise in cost cutting, it comes down to personal responsibility, and by blaming upper management for sending out a car on rent which they have not seen is dodging personal responsibility. No i am not upper managemnt, but its basic fucking common sense people

If anyone tries fo force you to rent any defective vehicle,do it,but make sure the customer is aware of the defect after all its their neck and licence, enter it on the check sheet and get a signature.
But there again, most of you will not bother as you will then have to find another car from Erac's vast stock.

I strongly beleve that there is no point in doing a job unless you do it propperly.I also don't want sombody's death on my hands so every time I get a new assistant or manager I make it clear that I will not put out un-roadworthy/illigal cars, and will contact loss control if they do.
It's quite funny seeing the look on their faces when they call my bluff
