a medical degree takes 5 years. the reasoning for this is that this is the amount of time it takes to learn what you need to practice as a doctor. simple really.

The average wage for an established GP in Britain is around £98k. A consultant will earn circa £120k from the NHS but both GPs and Consultants also develop his/her private practice.

As for New Doctors, believe me they work much longer hours than 50/week for their £30k salary.
