no - you will be hated by all brits who work below you. there are so many BMs out there who are ready for area manager, areas ready for city level etc then some trumped up yank comes over and pisses it all away. believe me, with so many BMs out there and so few areas, you will be hated just cos it's one less job for us

Thank you for responding. I appreciate it very much. Have there been any successful Americans or have they been universally abhorred? If one has been successful, what did s/he do to?

Generally no - not in London anyway.

There are a couple of decent blokes outside of rental (corporate managers, training managers etc) but to a man the BMs Area Managers, CRMS and GMs are hated.

The last decent US guy in rental was Brice Adamson purely because he didn't bullshit you. Other than that they are reviled.

Best idea is to stay put mate.

i dont think that was a threat, just some genuinely useful advise. BA was good - and he was probably the last decent Yank over here. The earlier posting had a good point, with less and less jobs at the top you are going to seriously piss some of the UK guys off if you are not shit hot at your job. You come over here and fuck up and they will hate you as they believe they could have done better and you stole a job which should be theirs. And no that's not a threat Robert, just saying it how it is.

What about CA and BW. CA did great things for ERAC in the UK both at U1 and at U4. BW is still doing great things for U8 and both earned respect in the UK. BW particularly - a great bloke still doing great things and still well liked!!

I agree. But don't you think JS, TH, LL, PS, and WR did a good job for people from the US moving to U4 in the UK until HG and BF came in from U1 and U8. HG fired KJ for saying SC looked like ET. I went to HR about it ASAP and they told me to mind my P and Q's and grow some balls and write actual names in posts instead of being a coward and writing initials.
