Default what's the deal with the crack reference?

rgvgal:

Why the reference to crack?

Is it because realitycheck and I are talking about credit cards and have gotten off your topic? If that's the case, consider this: conversations are organic; that is, they can go off in different directions as their participants warrant.

If that's not what you're complaining about, be so kind as to tell us what your deal is.

Otherwise, contribute to the current conversation by telling us your funny story about stupid customers with bad credit.

Back to your post, realitycheck:

I loved it when the credit card declined and the customer said "try it again" as if my trying it a second time would somehow make it work. No one seemed to understand that RALPH would only let cards decline once every 24 hours, so I gave up trying to explain RALPH and just swiped the card again and let it give the ominous beep. Yeah, I got "there's something wrong with your system" a lot. But also people would usually add something like "I just paid $100 of the balance before I got here."

Generally speaking, if a credit card declined, I could expect the conversation to eventually develop into accusations that I did not trust them enough to simply leave cash with me. (I suppose that their $300 would be enough to cover the $30000 vehicle!)

What got me about this ERAC policy was that people who knew we only needed $300 (or whatever, sometimes $500) would make sure there was exactly that much on their nearly maxed credit card and those were the people who always kept the car longer or seemed to bring the car back damaged which meant that we couldn't authorize anything else on their cards.

Default Crack attack

I'm thinking that Rgvgal mentioned that I was on crack because I quoted some random thing. I like to follow up someone's famous quote with a ridiculous one for no reason whatsoever other than to annoy the poster.

That whole 24 hour thing is easy to get by. I'd just back out of the ticket and reopen a new ticket if they actually contacted their credit card company and had a limit raise or fixed a legitimate problem or if they threw down some cash on top of the ccard. My group always annoyed me with their policy on debit cards, treating them as if they were cash, like running a debit card is really more of a risk. To me, anything linked to a checking account is more likely to go through in the future if the renter has a job, because money is usually deposited into the checking on a somewhat regular basis. A maxed out ccard is much less likely to have the balance that you need suddenly appear.

Anyways, back on topic.

Tire tread is a curious concept......

Default Good Stuff.........

My favorite was when an idiot of a customer came into my office and said that he should not pay for the rental because the battery in his automatic door lock didn't work and he had to use the key to lock and unlock the door. A week long retail rental. I, of course, told him no. My ARM then told me I had to because we needed to put faith of ERAC back in him. What a bunch of crap.

Default Like Bon Jovi says...

Ya gotta keep the faith!

Faith in Erac. Over an automatic door lock... What a joke. I bet your area manager then chewed you out later when that refund caused your IPC to drop.
Some people aren't going to be satisfied no matter what you do...so why bother doing anything. Fuc'k em. Let them stew over the horrible inconvenience of inserting a key into a door lock.

Default idiots!

My favorites were the dolts who locked the keys in their car and than proceeded to yell at us because we didn't have a spare..."Did I pee on your rug? Hello, Para usted englais?" (thought you'd like that reality, rjlwaj try to keep up)

They all seemed to forget that THEY locked the keys in the car and that it's not my fault that they're stupid. I'm really not an @#%$, those that called looking for help and were happy with whatever we could do I had no problem with. It was the people who huffed and puffed and lectured about what bad customer service we had because they had to wait for a key to get cut and brought to them, or god forbid they had to go to a dealership and pick up a key. I learned early on at enterprise that people in this country have no level of personal accountability. It can be 12 maxed out credit cards, a damaged rental, locking the keys in a car, not contacting your insurance company to get a rental authorized, anything, it doesn't matter the general public will desperately look to point the finger at anyone other than themselves...it's really pathetic.

Default It's funny

It's funny you mentioned the people that locked their keys in the car...I was just thinking about some of those experiences. This one tard called and said she had locked the keys in the trunk and then told me she was in a rush because she was late for work and that it was my fault because the car didn't have a trunk release. I was SO tempted to say: "Well maybe you should have thought about that before you set your keys in the trunk like the moron that you sound like. Where's the ignition at again?" Oh, how I wish I had some of those moments back without having to be worried of getting in trouble for telling someone off. I would be in hog heaven!

Default rewind

Don't I know it. One of my big regrets was that I gave my two weeks while I was in car sales so I had no glorious last few days in rental when I could shoot back at these types. One nice aspect of car sale however is that when rental is slammed with a bunch miserable slobs on monday morning, or saturday, you can walk by and totally disregard them. I used to love having someone walk up to me and start spouting off about the wait and how important and busy they are and I could just reply "Sir, I'm in car sales, I can't help you unless you want to buy a car. You might get out of here quicker that way by the looks of it. Have a nice day."
