| As a BM, when I saw the interoffice mail, as soon as I saw a recall, it went in the garbage. It didn't matter if it was priority or not. I loved when they had the greasy loss control guy come for area meetings, and he would harp on getting these done. When you run at 94% all month....there is no time for these. I'm sure ERAC could get in trouble for this because so much emphasis is on occupancy, that maintenance always takes a back seat. |

| I was in charge of the maintenance of 140 cars, and weekly I would get into yelling matches over bald tires, oil changes when the car went over 8000 miles since the last change, etc. Unfortunately, I wasn't the branch manager, and I was constantly over ruled by the branch manager. The area manager didn't care, just the usual canned response "are cars are safe, focus on renting them" type of speech. Needless to say, I quit that position within the company and instead started working for another branch. In my experience at 5 different branches over my time, 2 and sometimes 3 out of those 5 actually checked things like tire pressure, whether or not the tires are bald(especially when the car is over 35k), and things like oil. I had one branch manager tell me that the computer was always wrong, and since we didn't keep track of oil changes all that well, just clear the warning/check mark that an oil change was complete, and move on. I also had the great experience of parking an enterprise luxury car in our back parking lot and as I got out of the car, it plunked to the ground. Apparently it had a mechanical problem that the local branch and service techs who looked at it didn't feel was important. When we took it to the local luxury dealer for service, they said if I was on the highway the car would have flipped, and if on a side road, the car would have flown off the road and I'd likely be dead. |
